Thank you, I thought so as well...seems some people don’t quite agree...though it seems to be that a lot of people think a good deal is only one that is free or just about that...

Still early days yet
Would've upgraded but nothing wrong with my current BT8600 handsets. Will wait.

I have to say that nuisance calls to our place have dried up this year. Either someone's getting the clamping down right, or maybe they've just got fed up with me winding them up!
Just wondering... Do you have to have a BT line rental toi get Caller ID and Nuisance blocker??

No you don't need BT, but you MUST have caller ID in order for your own contacts (stored in the phonebook on the device) to get through or even get the phone to ring.

I have a set of 8500 handsets and these have been superb! Was on Sky for ages and worked a treat. Moved to BT and they stopped working, with regards to receiving calls. Realised after a week that I had no caller ID (another £2 a month or so).

As soon as I turned it on, they started working as intended again. Seemingly my Sky rental had it as standard, or rather, maybe I didn't realise I was paying for it from day one?

Either way, I 100% recommend these call guardian phones. I've had a grand total of zero nuisance calls make it through to me since I got them two years ago now.

Yeah BT charging for Caller ID is crazy, one of the reasons I left them (they charge for voicemail too). Now I just use the inbuilt voicemail on my 8600 doesn't matter who I am with. However Caller ID has to be enabled by the telecoms company - at least Sky, EE, I think Talk Talk too don't charge for those basics.

Only downside of inbuilt voicemail is if you are on a call then 2nd caller can't leave message (line is engaged). Also true if you have line problems - the call will never reach your voicemail.

The way I have mine set up is all displayed number callers get through. Basically only unknown (no caller display number) callers get screened by the phone. That blocks 99% of spam callers for me with the least amount of hassle and interruption to genuine callers.
anyone know what type of call blocking is used in these? BT used to do built in Truecall technology - is that still the case? Looking for new phones for my parents .. I've got an old seperate Truecall box which is great but would prefer to get them phones with it built-in
Does this have bose speakers in it or is it made by Apple
Why so expensive
Expired Unfourtanelty :-(
