Doubt you’ll have frozen toes. Merino products are virtually always a mix with polyester or nylon - although granted 9% is on the low side.

Salomon merino socks are on offer (half price) at Blacks for £12 a pair - 27% wool.

No they're not.

I own about twenty Merino items and they're all 100% Merino...

Good for you. Try searching merino ski socks and see what comes up. 100% merino is the exception not the norm - and you’ll pay a lot more than this for it.

Quality is good. Got these for a snowboarding trip. Really warm and comfy (although not tested in snow yet).

I've got loads of Merino socks. I wasn't even counting them in the Merino items I previously mentioned. They all have at least 50% Merino in them.

These socks you've posted are 74% Acrylic, 16% Polyamide, 9% Wool, 1% Elastane.

They are acrylic socks with a small amount of Merino in them so that they can be sold as "Merino" socks.

Calling them Merino socks is the kind of thing that only the worst retailers would attempt.
Ski Socks at Aldi. As low as £1.99 depending on location.
52% wool, 10% silk, 2% elastane.....

Should arrive in next few days. I’m hoping decent as we are off to Finland skiing in a week and it’s rather cold there

Aw damn I wish I checked the percentage. Likely cheaper on eBay
If you want cheap Merino cycling socks, checkout the plantx ones, some are 69% Merino wool content (check the details on each design). They often do these for £2 a pair when on offer

Okay - like I said. Good for you and your merino haul. These are cheapish ski socks with a bit of merino in them. Cheaper than a lot of the other socks with a bit of merino in them. If you want to link me to your 50% plus merino ski socks I might buy some - being that you’re an expert.

No good for skiing/boarding. Too short and no protection for the shins/calves.

But alas - not merino wool. Lambs wool socks are pretty poor for snowsports in my experience.

Even coarse 50% Shetland wool would be more acceptable than a near none existant 9% merino. 50/50 is about right.

Not for me - I have pure wool ski socks that are a battle to get on and make my feet too hot for snowsports

Unless the toes are reinforced you are lucky to get a months cycling before holes appear. The top of the range Decathlon ones fall foul of this, unlike Aldis finest winter cycling socks.

To be fair, Aldi’s cycling range are spot on. Your feet remain pretty static when riding and these offer great protection from the elements in winter. Usually a battle to keep the feet want in cold conditions when cycling.
