Selcof is a basic quality brand from Planet X I think. A bit like Wiggle's Essential range but still pretty decent normally. Even on aliexpress a pair of brakes is about £1 minimum and likely a bit lower quality with a 2 week wait. So 3 pairs of these for £1.98 seems great value. Likely better than those fitted to very low end bikes but inferior to those fitted to higher end bikes. Always worth having some spare pads even if you don't need them now.

I had a few pairs of these -- they're very deep, as in the braking surface would need to be quite deep as well (from the rim edge to the bottom of the braking surface.
I tried the, make an offer, option but it wouldn't allow a price lower than 99p (even for one). Restricting you to higher offers than the sale price seem to defeat the whole purpose of making an offer

Ebay's minimum price is 99p I think for buy it now so you can't offer lower than that. So the seller might have had that intention to allow a bit below ebay may have prevented it. 3 packs delivered for £1.98 even allowing for commercial postage rates that's pretty damn cheap.

They look fine for my application assuming the picture shown is what I actually get but we shall see.
20mm depth is not normal. I’ve never seem a rim that size.
I'm sure they will be fine in that regard. The image clearly shows reasonable size brake pads compared to other models and if there is a curvature to the design then that might increase that measured distance. They also taper in to the braking surface. I'm sure for typical V brake use they should be fine. We will see though.
It says it’s an Extra Deep pad. No idea what uses them.
Just to be clear -- they're still sitting in my parts bin because none of my bikes have rims that deep...
Found this image. Thought I'd better add it as it might be useful to some people. Doesn't look like they are 20mm for the braking surface height, that is an overall size. Probably more like 16-17. Looking at my rims on my bikes seems like they would be suitable for most of my mountain bikes except one has dual disc and rim brake compatible wheels and the rim braking surface is CNC'd with a rounded shape rim above that surface. These look like the brakes would overlap on the spoke side a small amount. However I wouldn't want that as it would be abrasive to the black painted surface beyond the CNC'd rim. For me its not a problem as I use disc brakes with those. The brakes look fine for simple single wall rims and other rims that have a straight side edge. Might actually work better as I have a generous gap above and below my current V brakes on one bike. Surprised the description mentions road and mountain seems more like mountain only to me with some limitations on compatibility.

I'll check them out when I get them and if decent and compatible might be tempted to order some more. If there is a compatibility issue then they could be better quality than I thought and purely sold as such a low price for that reason. I would definitely hold off buying though if you have painted rims with a thin CNC'd braking surface.

That's definitely good information that may be important to some people. Cheers. I have a quite a few bikes...cough. So I'm fairly confident I will have a use for them and not to bothered if they slightly go over towards the spoke side. Maybe these are designed for deep profile rims like some track bikes. How and why did you get these brake pads? Planet X/On One offer?
