3 Sim only - £17 a month- 600 mins Ayce Data and Texts - 12 Month (retention)

Found 11th Apr 2016
Three offered me the 12 month plan of 600 mins Ayce data and texts for £17 instead of £25.
I was already on 4gb data and unlimited mins and texts for £12 which was discounted from £20, so he said he could apply it to this for me. I asked how much it would cost to cancel my contract and quoted the EE deal that was 16Gb a month for £12 and that I wasn't happy and I got this.

Bring on the three haters!

How did you contact retentions? I would take this in a heart beat as they are not offering much for me.

Same here didn't offer me anything only 4 gb data for 12 pounds or 8gb data for 16. I just ordered a sim from ee for 16.50 with 16gb data. But If they offered me this i may have stayed

I rang up and went to the option which said if you've been sent a letter about your contract change, but I think this is only for people who were on the one plan and then spoke to someone there

Original Poster

I'm not sure If it is retention, that just appeared when I posted the deal

I managed to get the following

All you can eat mins
All you can eat texts
30GB Data
£20 a month

I got 200mins, unlimited text, unlimited data and 12gb tethering for £18 sim only 12 months. I was previously for one month, on the same but with 4gb tethering on a 30 day sim only for £23. I just rang them up and said I was thinking of going back to EE and this is what they offered me. It suited me so I took it on a 12 months sim only contract.

I've just managed to get 600 min unlimited text & 30gb data which can also be used as personal hotspot for £17 on a rolling month sim

BTW I was previously on the one plan for £15 pm

I rang Three and for the same price that you mention here, they offered me:

12GB "Truly Unlimited" Data (WTF right?)
200 Minutes
All you can eat forever for 12 months Text (again, WTF)
12 month Sim only contract

The letter has left a bad taste in my mouth, and calling up retentions, they claim all you others here posting these deals aren't true, and that my deal is the only one, and the rep couldn't understand why I just "didn't get it".

Well THREE. You've lost a customer. Shove your unlimited text to the moon.

They rang me back and it turned out hey offered me it in error which is awful, went through to a manager and they gave it to me for £19, better than nothing but not as good as £17!! Livid

Any one know the best deal around for unlimited data, mins/texts are relatively unimportant for me.

FYI
I had £12.90/mo 200 mins unlim. text unlim. data (no hotspot) and also received a letter recently...

Had the same deal they increased it to £20 Have left Three for good now never got offered a good deal

Well I got the text havent had the letter yet. Annoying. Ive now got to waste my time finding another deal when I was happy with the one I had. If anything Three have probably just forced me to reevaluate and look elsewhere and pushed me out the door when even though on AYCE was probably using monthly 2GB at most with the odd spike 2 months of the year. Silly business model. So much for their 'Make It Right' and no hidden surprises!

I got the letter, what's everyone going for. I had ayce data, unlimited texts and 200mins for £12.90.

Also would rather leave

I had the letter today :-(

Been very happy on the one deal for a round 3 or 4 years.

Deals I have been offered (which they wouldn’t better even after requesting PAC code):
best deal
£30
unlimited minutes
all you can eat, 30gb tethered,

OR

£25
600mins
all you can eat, 30gb tethered,

The only haggling I could manage was 2000 3 to 3 minutes addon.

I rang the other day and they wouldn't budge from 25 pound for this deal. Today I got the deal for little haggling

Aye after being with them for a long time, having ran a mobile comparison site in past and recommend three its time for a change im happy to say. Its all about data now and ive a good measure of how much data I use so I will try a new flavour. Actually recently ive felt Three quality had gone backwards on their network.

After a lot of effort, I managed to get unlimited texts, calls and data (12Gb of tethering included) for £20 per month after my One Plan cancellation letter came through. I initially got nowhere with the sales or retentions teams and I didn't get any call backs after requesting my PAC code.

Another user told me that they used the complaint option on the Three website to state how disappointed they were with the scrapping on the One Plan. I did the same and offered up links to a £20 Vodafone deal and a special offer from BT Mobile. Both of those deals wiped the floor with the Three packages.

I also highlighted the £20 deal that other Three customers had been offered. One user also got a £20 credit on their account. So, I mentioned both points in the complaint.

After sending my complaint, I got a call a couple of days later and I got the £20 package with a £20 gesture of goodwill credit.

Vodafone has a poor quality of signal in my area that's almost as bad as O2 (I think that Vodafone are the most complained about mobile phone network as well) and the BT Mobile offering didn't include tethering that's vital for me.

As I have an iPhone, the network can enable or disable tethering and I prefer that phone to my backup Android phone.

The Vodafone deal was a now expired £20 a month SIM only deal that was posted here. The BT Mobile deal was unlimited texts, calls and 20Gb of data for £15 or £16 a month (£5 discount as I have BT broadband). I'm sure that there will be a similar BT Mobile offering on their website - sometimes the price is a little higher and they throw in a voucher to sweeten the deal.

I called again, and it was difficult to understand the rep precisely, but it appears that migrating from the one deal people were only being offered the £30 deal. If you were on a deal other than one, you could be migrated onto the £20 deal. Pretty poor IMHO.

Try the complaint option via the Three website. You may, like I found, get a phone call a couple of days later. Outline the best deals elsewhere and that you want to remain a Three customer, but the packages offered are not competitive.

I outlined that I would like unlimited text messages, unlimited calls and unlimited data for £20 a month. I was pleasant in the complaint message and with the representative who called me back. She understood and offered what I asked for and what other former One Plan customers had been offered.

The actual package is £30, but it has a recurring £10 discount each month. That's the same as the One Plan I was on - £25 per month with a recurring £10 discount each month.

While the representatives from Three are often (not always, from my experience) from another country, I've never had any misunderstandings and they've always been efficient and helpful. This contrasts with the offshore call centres that BT use with very poor quality VOIP system that does make it hard to hear each other.

my issue with these "retention" deals is whichever way you spin it it's a five pound increase and a 12 month contract from the £15 30 day rolling deal with AYCE data that I and many others already have.

no dice!

Hi all on the one plan and sim 300 for the wife, got my letter today about my one plan. I have not phoned them yet but wanted to ask a couple of questions. are three just moving the one plan customers will my wifes sim 300 be ok or are they moving them as well as she pays £10 a month for 300 min 1gig data and 3000 txt and 2000 three to three calls ?

also whats up with this as they are doing all you can eat min and txt but one tarrif is unlimited data with 30gig of tether and the other is 30 gig only with no tether but at the same price ? why would you pick the 30gig data only tariff I just don't understand that pricing at all

I chose, billing related issues, none of the above.

I said I was on "the one" deal for £17, have been told via letter that I will be moved to £30 deal. I though this was unfair as customer services had told me they were migrating people to a £20 deal, but this deal was not available to 'the one' migration.
