Looks good. Thanks! was looking for a city trip in school hols!

This hotel is in a place called Granollers about 20km from Barcelona with very little going on around it and isn't on the coast either. You would have to use public transport to get in and out of Barcelona every day and as the hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere you might find yourself stuck with nothing to do in the evening.

Not voting either way as it's a decent price but I think there are much better options for visiting Barcelona on a budget. Staying in a hostel or renting an apartment in the centre can reasonable or consider somewhere like Sitges and then just go on a couple of day trips to Barca.

Yeah, this is hardly a Barcelona holiday, as it's so far away. Not voting, but the joy of this city is spending as much time within it as possible. as Robdk says, Sitges is an alternative option if you want to travel in.

Went last year , well worth a visit. If the hotel is near a underground station its not to bad , the underground is very good and is easy to use , you can buy a multy trip ticket which works out quite cheep.

Loved barcelona when i went about 3 years ago. Stayed pretty much in the centre of it though and loved it. Quick metro system, easy to use, loads to see and do, because of the siestas they have, shops are open late too. Highly recommend Barcelona. (Awesome zoo except for the big cats bit - seemed a bit small for them)

Again I think it's worth pointing out that this hotel isn't in Barcelona. It's 30 miles away and there doesn't appear to be much in the way of transport links into the city. Personally I would advise people against this deal if they want to visit Barcelona as it's too far away and there is nothing in the area to make it worth the effort. Plus the hotel for the week costs around £250 so the flights must come to over £300. Doesn't look much of a deal to me now. Cold.

Sitges is popular with gay couples. My parents went there last year and were taken aback by just how gay it is. The beach was particularly interesting, apparently. Not sure if that was of any use to anybody, but I thought I'd get it out there.

I am from Barcelona and taking into account that this is Montmeló, it is a little far from Barcelona. According to their site, train station is "Distance: 2.0 MI/3.22 KM EAST to Hotel".
So don't count on it if you have to walk there every day. Probably not any other public transit options...

It's about 25km according to directions in google maps, prob less as the crow flies. 30 miles is about 50km, twice as far. But yes, it's a bit of a jaunt. Still a nice place to relax and have a few days trips into the city, but not to enjoy its nightlife.

Fair enough, the hotels' website says it's 27 miles from Plaza de Catalunya so I just took that from there. Not sure I agree that it will still be a nice place to relax though. It's in an industrial estate, bit like having a week in London but staying in Dagenham!

I've spent way too much time around that area, as it's just "up the road" from the Circuit De Catalunya.
Granollers is an absolute dump, it's an industrial town - nothing more.
If there was something going on at the CDC then it'd be handy, but there's nothing on that week.

Feel free to ask any questions about the area - I know Catalunya very well

This "deal" is about as good as the new HDUK layout LOL !!!!

Holiday Inn Montmelo - LOL That's handy for the AutoPista

Nah, its not.
I used to use this hotel all the time.
Its actually adjacent to the AutoPista (AP7) at Montmelo.
Because of its vicinity to the Circuit De Catalunya it was, until a couple of years ago, block booked by motorsport teams using the CDC for testing. Now there's far less testing at the circuit the hotel stands empty most of the time.
It was built to service the demand at the circuit.

It'll be of no use to folk as a centre for their holiday
