I thought that I'd share this, as it may benefit someone else.
I've had endless hassels with 3 over the last couple of weeks, and today I had enough, and phoned to cancel my contract. After an hour on the phone, I got through to the cancellations department, and they asked why I wanted to leave, so I just said that I want an iPhone.

The guy then said that as I am existing customer, I can get an iPhone 3G on three for £25 a month now if I'd like.

I cancelled anyway as I want the 3GS, but thought it may be useful to share.

I've just left 3 as their coverage in my area is absolutely diabolical, the iPhone is a nice toy, also have a look at the Nokia E71, brilliant phone with lots of functionality and features.

Yeah, 3gs would have been good. I bet the contract was 24 months?

£25 a month for how long and what minutes / texts / internet.....

i doubt it ... just phoned 3 and they said they don't do i-phone .... mhhhh

Someone else mentioned this last week on here. Just to even things out 3's coverage where i am is better than t mobile, voda and 02. I have a better signal than my mates that are on those networks pretty much all the time.

Don't have details, wasn't really interested, but thought I'd share it nonetheless.
You have to go through to the cancellations department though, as I only got offered this when I said to the guy that I want to cancel as I wanted an iPhone. Before that no-one else even mentioned it to me. His words were along the lines of, "We will be offering the iPhone next year, but we are willing to give it out early to existing subscribers, would this stop you leaving 3?"

3 are a joke. I am tied in til march 2010 and its sickening.
3G dropping, No signal most of the time, texts and messages arrive hours later.

Useless company, useless service, useless support.

Anbody reading this should avoid 3 totally.... simple as.

I really don't get all this bad feeling towards 3 - I've been with them for at least 3-4 years now and they are no better or worse than any of the other mobile companies in terms of reception or service. Customer services is still tedious as they always have to stick to their scripts, but I've never found it a problem to get what I want. I currently pay £5 pm for 300 mins, 150 texts, 25 video mins and MMS, plus £5 worth of downloads from Planet3, plus a free upgrade every year - show me another company that offers that kind of deal!!

the '3' service is atrocious in my opinion. I was tied into an 18 month contract and had to go into another room in the house anytime I wanted to send a text! Phone calls were a nightmare. Avoid at all costs.

Would it be possible to switch to this deal 10 months into an 18 month contract with 3?

If you are having network problems with three, call them up and they should tell you how to configure your settings so that you use the Orange network. There are no extra charges. Apparently they have a deal with Orange.

I thought that 3 now used the network of the company that has not taken care of my personal information, and has sold all my personal details onto a third party.

Pretty sure its the Orange network they piggy back off for 2g. T mobile themselves done nothing wrong. Can't see how T mobile can be blamed for some members of their staff selling customer details.
