Poisonous little rag of a paper - sad that a decent company like John Lewis/Waitrose has sold its soul to the devil by going in with this nasty bunch of toe rags.

I suspect this is a bonus points promotion, so a single entry from either weekend edition will get you 200 points.

if you have a mywaitrose card, spend £10 in store and you can get the paper for free.

Agreed. Why would any self respecting Waitrose customer read a chav rag like that.

The scummy Mail fits well with Waitrose, as they offered it free with their card, but refused to offer any other Scottish newspaper. Then they started lecturing how to vote in the independence referendum yet only had a single figure of Scottish stores.

Dumping them and using Aldi Lidl or Farmfoods means you don't get lectured to politically and save massively more than the few quid on offer here.

It says you have until March 3rd to collect the required 200 points so i seriously doubt that

Shopping in waitrose is considerably cheaper than shopping in either aldi or lidl for me. You just have to know what you are doing

Any examples of this "knowledge"?

I noticed waitrose are no longer offering free tea/coffee, & justify this by offering a lecture on "etiquette"!

Anyone able to confirm whether you can claim for the gift card with just today's paper rather then accumulating 200 points from several papers? Thanks.

you get the 200 points for signing up from the banner as far as i can see then you just need to get the code from the paper, which someone suggested you could be krass and just get it from the paper (if you know what page it appears on)

you still get the free coffee but you have to buy something else as well in the coffee shop to qualify, like a cake for example. they don't want people using the free coffee like a coffee shop.

entering todays code give you the chance to get it for 200 points. Its been like this for months, bit dodgy as it says get £3 gift card with todays paper which isnt true

So just confirming what mutley1 said, new rewards members should get a 200 bonus point reward with today's paper which will qualify them for this promotion. Existing rewards customers need to enter today's or tomorrow's code, claim the usual reward amount and then spend 200 points (including the 50 with today's paper).

Seen this on Sky news review at 10.30 last night, get the Mail but nearest Waitrose is 30 miles away and far to posh for a scruff like me.

The thing about 200 points for new users may be right but where is the evidence

Prince Charles uses both of them - one for selling his organic range at an inexorbitant price and the other for improving his image, planting his various stores and 'beautifying' his woman - the woman loaded with stone on a turkey neck!

Bought the paper; joined mymail as a new member and only recived 75 points for the code - not enough - need 200 for the voucher. A con.

I jumped through all these hoops and the website doesn't work.
It gave me 75 points doesn't allow me to claim the £3 card.
Suckage.

their banner clearly states 200 points when you join so I would raise a complaint and wait for the gift card.

they may do this to make sure people can prove they actually bought a paper so I would keep the paper in case they ask to see it.

Dear sucker,

Thank you for your email regarding the £3 Waitrose Gift Card promotion. I am sorry for any confusion caused.

I can confirm that in order to redeem this promotional offer, you must spend 200 Mail Points. The reason this promotion is advertised as free is that Mail Points have no monetary value and are given away in addition to purchasing the paper as a means of rewarding loyalty.

We do really appreciate your feedback and will take this in to consideration when making promotions available to our Members in future.

Should you require any further assistance in this or any other matter, please do not hesitate in contacting us again, either by replying to this email, or calling us on: 0808 272 0808 (calls to this number are free from UK landlines, but mobiles may be charged).

Our advisors are available seven days a week, from 6am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 6am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind regards,

As I said - except that they're not just a nasty bunch of toe rags. They're a lying nasty bunch of toe rags. Still, they're only ripping off Mail readers, so it's not all bad.

Advertising Standards Authority, anyone?

they have misleading advertising as there is 200 mailpoints where you sign in or join, which imply that you get the 200 mailpoints for joining.

these people should be reported to the advertising ombudsman for misleading the public.

where? can you post a link or screenshot?

if anyone claimed 75 points yesterday and is having trouble reading the unique code on the back of their paper today you can verify your purchase of a paper *cough* simply by saying who is advertising on a particular page in the Event magazine (eg inside cover, back cover or page 10)

That way you can get your 100 points added for today

I fell for the con as well, phoned up and they said it was quite clear. I will complain to the advertising standards for misleading advertising. By the way who is advertising in the event magazine , mine must have been misprinted...

Bit slow here as I need to see a doctor

Original Poster

Not sure who is advertising but they are selling some Fantastic Railway Travels on the inside on the front cover. (_;)
Edited by: "aclondon" 22nd Feb 2015

Anyone know who is advertising on the back cover of Event Magazine?
I can't read today's code and the dog ate my Event Magazine.

(I joined as a new customer mutley1).

Ah. If one was to cancel and try again then eventually one might find that the answer to the question asked by the vile Mail scum is railway related.

And for Friday's paper one might find that the coffee wheel answer is C.
You get a limited number of tries before big brother bans you for a week.

.... per account.
