The Makita LXT BL1840B 18 Volt 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) battery with battery indicator uses Makita's optimum charging system which produces 30% more runtime, and 2x more cycles over the lifetime of the BL1840B batteries.

A 5x lower self-discharge keeps the Makita BL1840B battery cells active and ready for use even after long periods of storage, charging at any time will have no effect on the battery.

Built-in shock absorbing features protect the battery and sixteen firm holding contact terminals reduce the risk of power loss/fluctuation in high vibration work environments.

The Makita BL1840B battery's built-in memory chip communicates with the charger to maximize battery life using 3 Active Controls (Current, Voltage & Thermal)

The Makita LXT BL1840B 18 Volt 3.0Ah Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery uses the latest Lithium-ion battery technology. With no memory affect Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries can be "topped up" at any time with no affect to battery life. The main benefit to this battery type is the weight - up to 40% lighter than Ni-CD makes these the favourites for power tools.

Superb price. Anything less than £10 per Ah gets heat. This is better than most!

They actually have less capacity than stated,
less protection to prevent overheating and fires,
There’s a big difference in them, just because they power the tool, doesn’t make them as good or as safe.

If anyone has an Amazon business account worth checking the 3 and 4Ah ones on there periodically. Between Christmas and July I have picked up 4 x 4Ah. 1 at £23, 2 at £22 and the last one end of July at £20! All genuine from Amazon on Prime. Usually says delivery will take long, but few days after order get an email and they arrive the next day

I've previously bought non-OEM batteries for my Makita kit. I don't have them any more, they each lasted a year or so and then wouldn't hold charge or recharge, so I only buy originals now as I know it's false value. I still have a couple of Makita 3ah batteries in my box and they are fully reliable, each about 8 years.
With indicators? Unlike BMW's then

69 ratings and just two which give one star! Over 70% rate this as 4 or 5 star. Sad that the sheeple will pay massively more for something essentially the same simply because it has a brand name on it.
It’s.co.uk are an official Makita dealer as confirmed on the Makita UK website, I’d be fairly sure they are genuine.

The listing states, full Makita warranty and they have excellent trust pilot reviews.

Fakes generally, do not ‘work as well’, they are often cells with capacity below claims, they cannot maintain the high discharge rates of genuine cells and lack protection circuitry. Buying fakes is false economy and is a fire risk many times greater than genuine batteries.

3rd party batteries could be worthwhile if using quality suppliers such as LG or Samsung and with factory style protection, however I’m not aware that any are available that fit the criteria, there is not much money to be made when everything is done correctly. The majority of fake suppliers are after a quick profit with little care if you burn down your business, van or, god forbid, your family home!

17% of reviews rate one star. Noname batteries are often fine for a little while. Im glad yours work OK. I've used 4 year old makitas that still provide a useful charge. I'm willing to bet yours die waaaay before then.
Open one up, look how thin the wires are, how few components are on the pcb, and most importantly, see what cells are in it... cell capacity is key. Test it. If those hold 5 amps, ill eat my driver.

They're already older than 4 years now! The usual make is floureon the rest are badged, and they use Samsung cells so they should be OK

There's a big difference between replacement types sold on Amazon and out & out fakes which are going to be a disaster.

Several official Makita resellers like FFX and ITS use your fake battery picture on their website.

I’ll second this. I got 20 for £20 each with my business account.
