Not everyone wants 3 of these, but considering they’re so popular, it may be easy to find friends or family members who want to split and pay £53 each.
Cex give £52 cash for them, so you could always chop 2 of them in and have an Echo for £56.

I understand on the new ones you don’t need a hub for things like Philips hue lights, saving you about £50 per range of additional devices.

hope that’s true

Argos are giving 5% on Quidco today

Heat added. Amazing deal!!!!

Thanks, reserved. Don’t forget £10 voucher for over £100 too, placed another reservation for a Dot which brings it down to £25.

It's the more expensive echo plus you need for the built in hub. These are just better speaker with alexa

Just to confirm, it's the Echo Plus which has the hub/connectivity function which are £139.99.

Echo Dot is the small Alexa device which has a small tinny speaker.
Echo is the Alexa device with a larger, better quality speaker attached.
Echo Plus is Alexa device with speaker and connectivity hub.
Echo Show is Alexa device with a speaker and also screen.

This might also help some people - if you purchase using an Argos Card you are able to buy now and pay interest free in six months.

**Always pay off within this timeframe to prevent incurring interest**

Are they likely to go under this price individually closer to Black Friday?

Buy it. If price drops further return the new one with old receipt

I can't see it myself but who knows? My son bought his Echo less than 6 months ago and paid 150 quid for it! Now you can get 3 for that price! Seems like we are in the throes of a fight to the death between Google and amazon! Bring it on.

PS Don't forget Quidco are offering a 2.50 bonus on all purchases over a fiver today as well - mine's tracked immediately.

Thanks, checking out now. With the 5% on quidco too. Sweet deal.

If I have to return these if price drops (wont open them immediately in case) how long is the argos returns when you collect in store? And assume I can return to a different Argos?

This deal is going to get smoking hot!

Make sure you pay online and not in-store or Quidco won't pay out. I think it's 30 days at Argos isn't it? Not sure.

Yeah I noticed that on quidco pop up. Have paid to order in store. There's no argos near me but moving in 2 weeks so hopefully could return it to same store I collect from near new home.

My dad wanted one and I wanted to spend about £100 on a dot/echo combo so makes sense to just go for 3 echo at this price, especially since I don't have any good speakers to plug them into and want this for music and podcasts.

Thanks

Think that's only on the next model up. The Echo 2nd gen is the dot with a better speaker. I got the deal though... they're great

CEX is paying £52 on the old gen echo.

Pretty good if you want to trade this one in and get a new one. Weirdly they also pay £52 for the new one too! 32438342-6yOZI.jpg

Don’t forget if you have Barclays smartspend (same principle as Quidco or TCB) it’s 10% cashback through them if all goes to plan 3 new amazon echos £144 obviously risk with any cashback is the £50 off 3 is a promotion so could stop cashback but worth a try.

The big question now I have paid and reserved do I actually need them?

Only on the Echo Plus model does it have a smart hub built in

FYI. I just got John Lewis to price match argos deal so get the better service and two year guarantee

Apart from all the other uses, are they any good or comparable to sonos home entertainment system ?

In terms of sound quality they're not a patch on Sonos. It really comes down to how much you want the voice control over having to control Sonos from your phone.
You've also got home automation too which is fun to start with but personally having spent hundreds of pounds on light bulbs, plugs and thermostat I would say that's still very much a gimmick and I rarely if ever use Alexa to control anything now.

Anyone know what the situation is if you buy 3 and return 2 (in terms of how much is refunded back?). Thanks

I'm not sure but what was interesting on the on line purchase is instead of taking the same amount off each Echo, the on line confirmation is £69 for the first two units and £19 for the 3rd one! I'm going to collect them soon but on the face of it I could return the two £69 ones and keep the £19 one if I only wanted 1 in total.
Weird, I really expected the £50 saving to be split at £16.67 per unit.
