Great price, may have to look into getting a blu-ray writer.

i'm looking into doing the same thing.
from what i have gathered, you have to use AnyDVD HD to rip the movie to HDD, then if the movie is over 25GB, you have to use BD Rebuilder to strip any unnecessary files (foreign languages) from the file structure.
then just burn using ImgBurn.
PS3 should be able to play it.

How much would a rewriteabe Blu Ray writer cost?

According to Google about £150

i'm looking to get this one: ]http//ww…294

*one question*

does anyone know if the current drives will be able to play/write the 100GB & 200GB discs when they come out?

hmmm its gettting tempting now.

@ the equivalent of 6 dvdr's storage a pop will save me a lot of space and is almost cost effective.

anyone know how well these play on most drives?

ie cheapo DVD-R's give all sorts of read errrors etc, are these reliable as a backup medium or will i get half way through a disk and then get read errors?

cheers

100% yes. the process can be quite time consuming if the original blu-ray is more than 25gb but it is currently doable on all blu-ray movies.

i haven't done it myself but a friend of mind does it. honest.

I'm not sure about write but play I would imagine so...but again I would like to know the proper answer to this as well.

it will also re-encode the videos and extra's to AVC and the audio will be re-encoded to AC3 rather than keeping it's original HD audio, all menu's are kept as well as extra's

a 1TB hard drive for £70 works out better if you just want to back up data

I'm far from convinced, the Trouble is 1 blu Ray backup of all your data … I'm far from convinced, the Trouble is 1 blu Ray backup of all your data is so risky, so what do you do ? you end up doing is 2 or 3 backups of the same data (at x2 speed !!!!!) or risk losing it all so it really isn't saving space and it is no where near a cost effective i.e -Maxell Branded DVD-R 16X 100 pack£12.69 http://new.ukdvdr.co.uk/product.php?product=MAXELL067&title=Maxell+Branded+DVD-R+16X++100+pack+

So how many DVDR discs would you need for 25gb of data? bearing in mind you seem to think you need 2 or 3 back ups..

25gb of data - 1 original + 1 back-up
25gb of data - 6 originals + 6 back up

Also your link is to non re-writeable discs without cases, so all in all its a bit like comparing a tub of butter to a lampshade...

Didnt think that one through did you...................

sorry but i bought a pack of 10X 25gb disks HD for £25 or less from svp.burn ur blu ray movies to that!!! i need to know how i can covert these to smaller MKV files to take less space on my popcorn
