Excellent price, I use the MW3s in Victorian basement flat with thick stone walls and have been really pleased with the performance of the MW3s, having the free MW6 is a great bonus.
I bought a set of 4 from Amazon, however they came as pairs of 2, you need to download the app in order to get all 4 working together. Took me a while to realise, so try to always now leave a note when I see these on HUKD.

Had to return mine, wouldn't talk to each other.
Maybe I was unlucky. Ebuyer returns process reminded me why I don't often stray from Amazon for electronics

Still, hot price, heat added.
Has anyone managed to get all the mw6 and mw3 units to link up? Bought this from previous deal but not yet attempted setup

I had to reset the mw6 a couple of times when setting it up but after that everything linked up perfectly and hasn't missed a beat in the week or two I have had it running.

Using the app MW6 was set up ok, but couldn't get one of the MW3s connected (tried 2 out of 3).
Tried setting a MW3 as the "master" and the other MW3 couldn't connect to it either.

My MW6 came with the latest firmware, which people say causes problems, so I don't know if that was the issue for me.
Haven't heard back from Tenda after emailing them over a month ago. In any case ebuyer did accept RMA as faulty and refunded.

I went for the Deco M5 in the end when it was on BF price of £135 @ Amazon. Double price but worked immediately, much higher spec, nice app (I can control it from work as well as set limits and restrictions for the kids devices). Not looked back. I have over 15 devices connected in general (google home's etc) and I'm not sure if the Tenda could cope with all that now I have looked into it all.

If you can get this working for £70 and don't have tons of devices, then it's defo a deal.

Did you try resetting them all & trying afresh? Also, had to reset my main router (a Netgear) once in order to get it all working.

I have 6 speaking to each other, without issue. I don't need 6, but why not!

I even threw an MW6 in there, cos why not.

And yes, I avoid eBuyer now at all costs.

Yup. Reset all multiple times. Reset router multiple times. Again, maybe I was unlucky but seems my experience is not unique judging by both HUKD and other sites, but what really worried me was no Tenda response. Are you running the latest firmware on MW6?

As I say though, still hot deal if it all works and heat added.

Yes. But, if they don't work at first, reset them ALL & start afresh.
The 1st time I was setting up only MW3s, I also had to reset my main router to get them working - don't think Tenda/anyone else mentions this troubleshooting tip anywhere. If I hadn't thought of this, I would've mistakenly returned them as faulty.

Yup done tons they work perfectly
So it wasn't just me! I bough this pack from Ebuyer last time and have spent hours trying to get these to work with and without routers and my pi-hole. Ineffective and sporadic support from both Tenda and Ebuyer. The MW6 works great on its own and the three MW3s together are fine but not all four together, at least not with the MW6 as the gateway. The only way that I have managed to get these to work together is to install each until individually, update the firmware, factory reset each and then use one of the MW3s connected to a Openreach modem as the gateway and the other two MW3s and the MW6 as satellites. The MW6 as the gateway just will not work. Mind you they're much better than the TP-Link Archer VR2800 that they replaced.
I have a set of 3 MW3's in a tenement flat with thick walls. Work well.

From memory, mine wouldn't all connect initially. I *think* I had to set each one up as master in order for them to update properly. They wouldn't update their firmware, and talk to each other, until they were all on the same version and they wouldn't update as slaves.

Been running 24/7 for several months now. Had to power cycle them all once in that time.

Paid about this price for a set of returns from PCW/Currys.

They work perfectly to cover black spots in network. However do not give you the full claimed speed of 100mbps. Replaced previous one to find the same issue with new set. I get around 80mbps even next to primary one of these while direct connection to router gives a bit above 100mbps.
MrBeatnik18/12/2019 11:32

Are you running the latest firmware on MW6?

Yes, app says all running the latest firmware. I recently (past 1-2 months) bought my single MW6 directly from the manufacturer's official shop on Aliexpress, & a pair of MW3s from Box store, UK about a year ago.
I don't know much about units like this, but ordered pack of 3 TP link - M4 for £114.

Am I better of sticking or getting these instead?
This is a great deal, especially with the MW6. Mine has worked flawlessly for over a year.
Can't comment on Ebuyer though.

Quick question:

DUring setup, when the option of changin name comes up, do you change it to the same as your current router wifi name o=r keep them separate as 2 different SSIDs? Will this casue conflicts in the way phones/tablets use these IDs and IP numbers?

Thanks
I’ve had the MW3 pack of 3 connected to my virgin super hub 3 for a year now, its the most reliable WiFi I’ve ever had and excellent coverage - I’ve got 50mbps virgin and get 50mbps at the back of the house

I think I’ve had to power cycle one of them once when it didn’t update it’s firmware for whatever reason, also I remember my super hub not wanting to talk to them when first connected. But now I can switch everything off and on again without issue.

I switched off the wi-fi option in the router. Then I plugged in one of the boxes to the router with an ethernet cable. Then I linked the other boxes using the app. Call the mesh system what you like because there is no conflict.

Somewhat related - I've configured my main router to handle the 5Ghz band (SSIDname-1) & these to handle the 2.4Ghz band (SSIDname-2) & it has all worked fine for me.

Much the same as toonarama, I set it up on it's own SSID and disabled the weaker wifi on my existing router.

But, as I mentioned, did have to connect each Tenda box via ethernet to my router in order to get them to update their firmware. If I tried to do it remotely via wifi, they just failed. The in-box instructions didn't mention this point as far as I could see. Had to hunt around online to find that out!
Tempted to go with a mesh set up
I got this last time it was posted. They work fine but the mw6 was clearly a return (I had to hard reset it as the previous owner had changed the default ssid and password) I complained to ebuyer and had no response. Couldn't be bothered to send it back but I was unimpressed with the seller.
I have 3 x MW3's working perfectly. What advantages would I see if I added the MW6 unit (and where shall I buy one, not Amazon as I hate them recently).
Cheers,
Rich

Mainly you would use the MW6 as the connection to your router/modem as it has a 1000Mb connection (instead of a 100Mb with the MW3). Important if you pay for more than 100Mb broadband.

My experience is that the MW6 cannot work as the main Nova as it won't allow the MW3's to connect to it. It works fine on its own or as a satellite with one of the MW3's as the one connected to the modem/router. Not what I wanted and not as advertised.
Does anyone else have problems with amazon echo dropping out on these? Ever since I installed mine amazon music will stop randomly.

I've not had any problems streaming music through the echo dots.

I think this is actually true in my case too. I received the kit today. I put the mw6 as first mode with a new Wi-Fi name and to be honest it’s already filling the blind spots I had. But having the other 3 I decided to add them on and I can’t. I tried to add 1 Mw3 either with the app or connecting to its SSID but I can’t find a way of doing it. Has anyone managed ?
If I put a Mw3 as first node will it drop the speed ? Thanks

Ok . Done it. I followed the instructions in a previous comment. I used the Mw3 as a primary node. Updated the firmware. Reset. Put the mw6 back on as first node and connected to it.
Then connected the Mw3 to the power and opened the app. This time the app offered me a QR code scan feature . I scanned the Mw3 and the app did the rest. Even just with 2 it’s really impressive the range. !
Can anyone let me know what speeds they achieved with these? Finally got the MW6 working as the master node after a painstaking setup (did as mentioned, updated firmware, 1 at a time, still didn't work, had to retry the process 4 times before it 'took') however I'm only seeing speeds on 40Mb/s even sitting next to the MW6. Internet is 200Mb/s+, I was expecting a bit better or does the fact it's only dual-band mean 40Mb is the top speed? Thanks
I couldn’t get the MW6 to talk to the MW3’s at all. Tried all of the above and all of the tricks off the other threads. Getting better coverage with just the MW6 alone than our Virgin HH3. Managing over 200 meg download near the MW6 and a good 80-90 the other end of the house (Victorian, solid walls...)
Is everyone getting the original speed on the router or is it slower?
Sorry for my incompetence. Do you connect these like this: Virgin Media in Modem mode > Asus WT87 Router as main router >Tenda Mesh broadcast the signal.

2020 and they are only 100mbps. More reason to just get an access point
