30" bow saw with spare blade only £4.99 in Lidl. This is the "deluxe" version with soft grip handle and screw tighten for the blade. Good price for a big saw, a spare blade cost this much. Good selection of other garden tools as well.

Was in there today buying bedding plants and, whilst there, had a look at one - excellent value for money and something that I would have purchased if I didn't already have a bow-saw. Hot from me.

Depends how big the tree is

ndkssmb - The fact youre asking that suggests you perhaps shouldnt be cutting any trees down.

If its a small diameter you could use this but anything of size you would want a chainsaw and if its big enough to warrant a chainsaw its too big for most novices to start messing with. If its big and there is any doubt in your mind get a professional in.

We cut down an 8 inch diameter fir tree with a large bow saw.

Meh thought it said bone saw

Thx to OP! I read this earlier and went to LIDL. Saw seems really good quality for the price. It doesn't have quite the depth of cut of previous bows I've had but is still amazing for £5.

Heat!

FWIW I also picked up the extending loppers for £7.99 which seemed really well made too.

Not really that cheap, given that you can often pick up Bahco bowsaws for a similar price. Some Toolbank stockists might still have some of the double packs they were doing a couple of months back, a large and small bowsaw for about £10. It's only a small picture (the Lidl website appears to be down) but it doesn't look very deep, which severely limits what you can cut with it.

FWIW the cut depth is 6" at the far end and goes up to 7"+ at the handle end, so yes it is quite shallow. But for a cheap saw with two blades (each with covers) I still think this is a bit of a bargain at £5.
