Great deal, recently purchased a Lebara 6mth 1/2 price deal for a family member, the PAC process from previous provider went through seamlessly.

I'll also add for info as the question crops up on these Lebara deals, at the time of purchase they took the initial payment, however the SIM wasn't activated in a phone until just over a month later, it was at this point the 1st months allowance I'd already paid for started, the 2nd payment is then scheduled to be taken 30 days after activation.

Yep, just completed the port out and back in for my wife, we went with a 3 PAYG SIM as you don't need to add any credit unlike some SIMs now

One of the simcards had been with Lebara for 10 months therefore not a new simcard, if someone thought that a new card may not be eligible for roaming immediately. Took it outside New Delhi and nothing worked. Just kept searching for a network to connect to. Called Customer Service and was told they don't have a tie up with any specific network in India just find any network that works. Would have been good if even if they had a tie up with Vodafone Idea. So roaming in India is a marketing gimmick and nothing more.

I read the same on the Lebara forum, data allowance maybe practically useless for roaming in India. This offer will be useful for the 100 minutes of calls that you can make within India to local and UK numbers. Three charges over £1 a minute to make calls within India on their network, so £1.99 will be worth it to keep in touch with your family in India and UK upon arrival India. Best to get a local sim if you need the data, the Reliance Jio network is offering 2gb daily data for 28 days payg for rs299 (£3) only. (edited)

It starts when you activate SIM, you get charged the first month when you order and have 30 days to activate from order/receiving SIM (officially).

Many users have deferred the activation for months and it kept the promo (also the second month was not charged if the card was not activated, while deferred). (edited)

ppl i suggest you dont use a new lycamobile sim to port out your lebara number temorarily as unless you top up your number will be stuck with lycamobile as the sim will not work and you will not be able to send PAC to 65075 as your sms or calls will not work without top up.

So I don’t have to do anything now?

on joining you paid the initial £1.99 right?

then you dont have to do anything but put the sim in your phone and use the first mth 5GB data + Unlimited mins & Texts and then on the anniverary of the date you bought the deal which i see will be on the 25th of Feb 2022 make sure you have enough money in the original payment card you used when you join and then they will automatically take the next mth £1.99 and same for the next 3 mths..

and on and starting on the 25th of June 2022 when the £1.99 deal wld have ended (in your case ended on the 24th of June 2022), they will then start taking £5.90 from the payment card, if you dont want that then make sure you have turned off auto-renewal and have sorted out some other deal etc etc

However make sure, you do not toggle to off auto-renewal or you will lose the £1.99 deal for the next mths and will have to pay £5.90 at the next payment annivery from the mth you turned off auto-renewal. (edited)

Took a page from eBay play book, first 80% on fees reduction then 70%, Lebara had this deals on 6 months always, now five.

Every company it's seems to reduce(or eliminate) offers across the board these days.

It won't be a bad idea if I for one follows suit and buy less also, like 20% less or wait a couple of months before I decide also and prolong the use of the stuff I have.

Time to switch HUKD to browsing only (if I can, cold turkey ) and only buy if it's an exception deal and really needed.

With the cost of living going up and energy prices sky-high it's time for folk to adjust also.

    This is the way

This is 30days rolling contract, not a top up(PAYG) SIM (it can be used if you cancel the monthly plan) .

You will be charged every 30days automagicly thus keeping the SIM actively indefinitely (or until you cancel the renewal payment and that will cancel your relationship with Lebara if you want to port out)

Make sure payment method has funds always, failure to pay one time only will invalidate the 5 months promo. (edited)

I like Lebara, been with them nearly a year, however their texts seem intermittent, some days I send texts and they say sent on the mobile, and then numerous people tell me they do not receive them. Really wish you could sort customer services out on these type of problems, would be so much easier if you could text them and they reset your settings.

Never had a problem with voice calls or data, but texts have been a pain in the a$$.. I'd be on to customer services weekly if I didn't have Facebook messenger or whatsapp to fall back on. (edited)

Fair usage is here to stay even if everyone backtracks on roaming(tough …Fair usage is here to stay even if everyone backtracks on roaming(tough chance).VM fusioned O2 so they are the same co. Thats how I suspect this merger pushed the "we are holier than thou" in roaming. So the new "free" and the new normal on roaming is "at least you get some" and every MVNOs and MNOs have their limits from now on. For ex. 3 and Smarty have 12GB (in all and up to, packages) which is huge compared to others.I am on a 12GB UK plan with a 3 network and get my whole "all I can eat" pie in EU.So everyone has to check their allowances in EU from now even if they they can roam that is. It will be cool for everyone to rush porting to the only remaining roaming MNVOs and O2 et al, just to show that consumers still have a backbone. What do you think? Will happen? Nah, courage and follow thru are long extinct in our consumerism society. It's all about money baby But we are getting political here and we were talking about roaming. So yeah, get local SIMs people on SIM free handsets, even if/when you don't speak the, at least 27 official languages, in EU

The best I've found so far (for EU roaming) is Asda mobile as they say:

'All bundle customers have a 25GB data roaming limit regardless of the amount of data included in your bundle. Once you have 25GB of data you will be charged 4p per MB, the same as you would pay for data in the UK. You will receive notifications when you reach the 80% and 100% of the data limit.'

I think their unlimited data plan is something like 15/20 quid but if it was just for roaming you could go cheaper. Unfortunately, 25GB is still not great for me as I may need to rely on my phone for work whilst in EU if the WiFi is bad.
