B&M have a 30 pack of generic Zirtek (Cetirizine Hydrochloride) for 99p

They are EMPHARMA branded but tablets are identical to Tesco and Waitrose own brand Allergy tabs made by Dr Reddy's Labs. The tablets are round and are therefore fairly easy to spot.

Obviously, you can get them on prescription (for free) in Scotland, NI and Wales.

This is a good price. I recently bought a year's supply (12 x 30) of the same generic pills from online company 'Pharmacy First' and it cost me nearly 15 quid (inc P&P).

It disgusts me people would ask for a prescription for a quid of tablets. I guess it allows them an extra can of white lightning

These are around £6 in Superdrug, so it's disingenuous to say they are always £1.
Also, doctors prefer to track medication if your getting ongoing treatment

nonsense. Generic certrizine can be picked up for 99 p just about anywhere. Benadryl plus is six quid (I know I buy it) but that is a patented drug with no current generic substitute due to the fact it contains acrivastine and the license hasn't expired.

On your second note - generic hayfever tablets like these are over the counter that don't even need to be sold in a store with a pharmacist present so would require zero monitoring via the prescription process. Certain classes refuse to pay for anything as they are morally devoid and has nothing to do with their doctor monitoring them.

Utter tosh.

Check the price in boots and also number of tablets included!
