This been on here before!!

I've already signed up for this

Barclaycard have very high fraud protection on their credit card - so high that it is virtually impossible to actually use the credit card on anything over £100 so it declines your card so you need to have another credit card to hand - I've had my credit card since activating first week of January and has been embarrassingly declined twice on the only 2 instore transactions I made once in Radley in Cardiff and then at my garage to pay a repair bill - and their call centre which seems to be in India is worse than useless cut off twice and placed on hold for ages - 1 hour 20 mins spent just trying to lift the fraud block - so be warned I wouldn;t recommend from the service I have this card to anyone unless you have a spare - well done Nat West credit card for saving me.

On the other side, they are good at offering better 0% interest free for x months once you have paid off your balance. They will try to keep you as a customer. So far, I got 0% interest free for 12 months and there is no balance transfer fees. Another occasion, they offered me £50 cashback vouchers if I spent £500 for the 1st 5 months. So at the end, it is not a bad company to deal with.

had mine for a few years and never had a transaction declined, including £1000's on flights etc

Barclays is a stand-out company. Unfortunately, standing out as absolute scum in a scum infested pond is not necessarily a good thing

Is that possible to cancel my barclaycard and apply new one with offer? do they give it? or will reject as old customer?

My husband actually works for Barclays as a mortgage specialist and even he says the customer service is rubbish and it's all due to the Indian call centres - he says that they are starting to get rid of them - in the meantime I hold to my experience of a new Barclaycard holder - beware and always have a spare card just in case you get the experience I did - horrendous and it was nice to get a text message asking them to score me to score them between 0 and 10 needless to say they got a 0.................... although when I got through to a British Lady in the complaints department to cancel I got somewhere but it took well over an hour - so ok for balance transfer but not for using as a proper every day credit card - not for me but everyone's experience will be different....

Why don't you just apply for a second card whilst keeping the first one, once the second one is approved you can ask them to transfer the credit limit from the first card to the new card to maximize your credit limit.

I know someone who did just that and has no issues.

you know when MBNA came out with their 29 month zero interest promotion..... the big guns Barclaycard had to come up with something better!

2.89% BT fee is not a good deal.

pantaiema

2.89% BT fee is not a good deal.

better than 3.5% mbna charge

Call and say you want to cancel as you are looking at another card to do a balance transfer. You'll almost certainly find that suddenly you are eligible for a balance transfer offer on your existing card.

Santander 0.9% balance transfer fee applies for 17 month.
It is not 30 month but you could transfer it again to other BT CC when the 0% for 17 months close to an end.

I believe it is very easily to find another CC with 2.89% BT fee in the future.

Anyway MBNA BT Fee is 2.89% handling fee. and . 0% on balance transfers for 29 months.

nice find

same here used them for transactions above £1000 and never been declined, infact it authorises quicker than my other bank cards, which sometimes worries me

Just my experience over the last 6 months ... I've only had 1x transaction 'declined' for anti-fraud reasons - a £799 TV from John Lewis online - it was annoying, as the automated system rang me and I passed the security, but by then obviously the transaction had failed.

Used it for plenty of smaller (around £200 - £500) purchases without a problem.

Had the same issues as some others on here.. Declined transactions due to their anti fraud policy.. Spent half an hr in a store on the phone waiting for them to give me the authority to use my card! Another occasion while online I could not pay for a flight, and another time pay for a hotel stay online... I did however speak to someone British the latter two times! Stopped using the card after this, payed off balance at the end of the month and got an AA card, never had any issues with them, and I have not been the victim of any online fraud!

Considering this deal where you have a long 0% balance transfer offer why would you need to use it for daily shopping. Just take this out as a card for BT only and use your other CC for shopping etc ....................... its as simple hence no issues.

In btw the indian call centres are a nightmare .............. take it for TalkTalk, 3, Barclays and others, They're really crap.

Be very careful with Barclay card, I signed up to this deal, as said previously, The call centres are in India.....I set up a direct debit on my application form for the minimum amount each month and they failed to process this, they ended up cancelling my 0% Interest free as no payment was made!! I had set up a direct debit mandate which they failed to add to their systems!! So a warning make sure you chase them to make sure they have set up your monthly payment method!! DO NOT rely on them!!!
When I called up there was no second chance and being Indian, they were having difficulty understanding what I was trying to say to them! They would not accept that they did not set up my direct debit amount for the minimum payment, and would not let me do it over the phone!! I instantly went to 16% Interest..............WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN!
When they call me now for offers and send letters in the post I tell them where to go!

any one has an idea on how to claim £25 from MSE
