Will take 1 to 2 hours to fill this up, although a good price for such a small device. If its just storage your after you can get 120GB external USB drives (2.5") for £25 from eBuyer that will be much faster.

Your paying a premium here for size.

Perfect for backup storage, Will keep lots of info, speed is not always everything!

Thanks op ordered

brilliant heat added

Voted hot

It is a Class 6 flash drive, so I don't quite understand the slow criticism.

probably why the OP missed them out of the description (_;)

I prefer memory sticks of a decent speed, but even I could be persuaded at this price!

Actually it will take about 91minutes (32GB * 1024 MB / 6 MB per sec) if is writing at the top speed. In practice it will be like 2-3 hours at least. Snail drive!

Don't really understand the 'slow' comments on every USB drives ... you guys must always be in a rush to be somewhere!

You don't get 'Class' specification with flash memory of this kind. There is no guaranteed minimum speed.

Agreed. Speed is not important for many of us, especially if it saves a few quid!

If I want to take a movie from my PC and watch it on the TV, I don't want to wait for 20 minutes while it copies!
I would use the drive in this post for backups only

I have the 16gb version and it is very slow.
So slow I don't use it very often.

I'm not going to risk it, the last one I bought (16gb) had 1.5gb of bad sectors and the usb connector pushed into the rubber the first time I plugged it in...

No, this isn't a class 6 drive. Class 6 means min. 6Mb/s, this drive is up to 6Mb/s, Class 4 is min. 4Mb/s and class 2 is min. 2Mb/s, this drive is class 2, as the maximum write speed is under 4Mb/s.

I've got a smaller capacity version of this drive (same speed though) and tested with Atto Disk Benchmark, it gives a maximum write speed of 3.8Mb/s and a maximum read speed of a little over 10Mb/s.

That's not disastrously slow, but its far from fast. Still very good value at this price, but not good if you really need speed....

I posted this because its a good price and personally i dont really look at speed when buying a usb. It gets the job done and the price is a steal

spencerslide - it probably would do, however you would need to secure it. remember the external drive would be a disk, so there is a higher risk of breaking it.

i think its hot for what you get, as long as you are aware of what you are getting. iv never seen a 32gb this cheap, slow or not.

As this drive is slow, would it be no good to install linux on? I know flash media have limited read/write actions but would like to have another go with linux and not much space left on other HDs

icbtihk - i would recomend getting a external hard drive (disk drive), this is going to be considerably too slow for running an OS on it, although i dont have much experiance with lynux.

Nice one

Have some heat
