32in lg lcd television was £399 in john lewis last week reduced to £349 with 5 year guarantee £479 in arThis sleek LG 32LH2000 TV uses Twin Engine technology to improve its picture quality. It takes standard definition images to near HD levels by improving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing colour as well as reducing signal noise. Thanks to Intelligent Sensor technology, the TV also measures the light levels in the room and optimises the picture accordingly.
The excellent picture quality is fully complemented by 20W of involving SRS Tru Surround sound. The LG 32LH2000 also includes a built-in digital tuner so you can access Freeview channels and radio stations. You can also enjoy the view from almost anywhere in the room thanks to its wide 178° viewing angle. It has a host of connections including a PC input, 2 SCART sockets and 2 HDMI inputs.

This television is high definition ready which means it has the ability to display high definition signals with the addition of a separate HD receiver. HD broadcasts are at a much higher resolution than regular analogue or digital broadcasts and have greatly enhanced picture quality. The level of detail is astonishing with clearer, sharper and more vibrant images.

can get better Tvs for the money, just look on Richer sounds

yeah but Richer Sounds don't seem to have a website that you can ACTUALLY purchase these items from and don't have branches in every town in the UK ... so fine if you have A Richer Sounds handy and your own transport.;-)

Interestingly, I read this article this week

One of the comments by a reader is that the article is simplistic, but at least it gives a good starting point. It is on my list of things to research further (via Google!)

HTH:thumbsup:

Just wondering what you mean exactly? Do you think a 5-year guarantee i somehow worthless?

if the £279 was 'on' @ currys the 5 years wouldn't matter to me either ...I'll have to go with cheapo McCheap on this one :-D (luckily the only electricals I've had fail on me either did so within 12months or after 5 years so either way safe - touch wood)

so after reading the above article theres no need to purchase a 5 year warranty, covered for 2 under EU but now sure about the 6 year bit

Says up to 6 years but does that depend on the product purchased:?

I got John Lewis to price match Richer Sounds at the weekend as I wanted the 5 year guarentee as it's piece of mind at the end of the day and JL collect it from your home and replace old for new should something go wrong. I honestly think this is the reason they have reviewed their pricing. If they match Richer sounds and throw in an extended warranty with free delivery. That's a decent deal to me.

I think RS do that or replace with a new model equivalent if its 2-3 years on. John Lewis are a big firm. They can afford to do this. I think what you will see in the future is JL getting exclusive deals to certain tvs. Then they dont have to price match.

Fortunately my RS is a 2 min walk away.
