Pah........don't know why (maybe aspartame?) but they just don't make Cream Soda as nice as they did when I was a kid (80's).

It's my assumption that 99% of all people who post on the internet are guys; so this is based on that.

I believe that aspartame has a bitter taste for men, but has a far sweeter taste for women; its the reason why they brought out coke zero to try and readdress the problem that men found low calorie soft drinks unpalatable.

I guess traditionally men weren't the target market for low calorie soft drinks and so it wasn't a major factor that they didn't like them... however as society shifts to a hatred of processed sugar they really need to do something about it.

Personally I don't understand why they don't use sucralose (I guess cost) because having had some artificially sweetened soda in america produced with sucralose, it was far nicer. Having said that it does annoy me when aspartame free versions of soft drinks aren't available (cream soda being a prime example).

So in summary yes, you probably are right... that or that apparently according to the internet aspartame kills you almost efficiently as cyanide, and finding it not to your taste probably just suggests you are an evolutionary superbeing... it all depends on how seriously you take the internet though

Oh, Fantastic!! I don't know if it's still possible to rep on here, but if I can find a way, I will

Thanks!!

That's a good point about men finding aspartame bitter. I find it bitter as hell and think it really does ruin the taste of things. I've also stopped buying traditional Wrigley's chewing gums such as Doublemint and Juicy Fruit since they began putting aspartame in those too. My gf on the other hand is addicted to Diet Pepsi, while I prefer the regular version, and I've just asked her now and she says she doesn't find the taste bitter at all.

I actually had a really nice American Cream Soda recently. Can't remember the actual brand name but it came in a glass bottle from the American Pizza Slice takeaway in town. It was actually my mate who bought it and gave it to me as he didn't like it because it had a rather strong "medicine" like taste but I loved it!

This is also 4 for £1 (29p each) at Poundstretcher if there's no 99p store near you...

Morrisons sell the cream soda with hint of raspberry or try home bargains which was only 49p for 750ml glass bottle version.

where can we get that ?

Just an update for anyone who's interested: ASDA are selling 2x2litre bottles of this (and a few others, including ginger beer) for £1.50
