This is a great wee camera, 18mp and same quality as the 650D. Official Canon EF Lens Adapter which enables you to use your own Canon EF lenses like the nifty fifty comes included as part of the deal - worth £109.

EDIT : Canon Speedlite 90EX is apparently also included in the deal according to kenhkngai (thanks for the info)

Much better now after the firmware upgrade to speed up autofocus.

This is the best deal I could find with the adapter for canon EF eos lenses included with it.

£50 cashback from canon available, makes this a great deal at £295 after cashback.

How can this be cold? Never been cheaper than this?

This is hot! purchased, thanks!

elsewhere is this price without the EF adapter!

Because you posted a good/better deal

Good deal - managed to pick this up second hand last week cheap and post firmware update it is a really effective CSC

Heat added

Looks like this one doesn't come with the speed lite flash.

Aren't the NEX cameras far better than this? The only advantage I can see with this is that it will work with EF lenses, yet that will then make it massive again?

It also sounds like Canon are going to ditch this model and leave it without any new lenses

I'm amazed this is being voted cold, even a grey import for this costs more at the minute.

Cashback t&c's say..... purchases made between 1st May 2013 and 31st June 2013??

Sorry it's been extended... Wednesday 1st May 2013 and midnight on Saturday 31st August 2013

Shame if this doesn't come with the flash, otherwise it's a fantastic price.
The NEX series aren't far better than these. It has the same sensor as the 650D et al, so picture quality is gonna be great upto ISO 1600. I've been a little underwhelmed by the 5R and 6, I believe the firmware update has improved AF significantly on this camera, along with Magic Lantern hack which adds many new features such as focus peaking.
The AF on NEX cameras is overrated, it's appalling in low light and hasn't been improved a jot on the 5R and 6 with there dual PD/CD AF. I'm very tempted to buy one of these just to try it out.
I thought Canon were going to release an updated CSC camera later this year, I would hope the lenses for this new system would be compatible as the 18-55 and 22mm are apparently very good.

Just rang them, unfortunately you don't get the Speedlight in the package.
Still, I'd rather have the lens adapter.

I heard the focus is abit slow on this camera, not good for moving subjects but good for portraits and landscapes.

Nice picture, I think the NEX would struggle getting any sort of focus lock on that subject... What ISO is that picture? I'm guessing 3200?
How do you rate the camera? I'm very interested in acquiring one.

How much is the speed light worth?

That's nice to know, I wasn't sure whether some of the early release EOS M packages came without flash, and this was one of them.
£295 seems a lot of kit for your money... and, yeah the guy didn't seem to have a clue what he was talking about really and, according to him, they didn't actually have the cameras in stock, they were due within the week.

It's a great piece of kit, I got my dad to buy one to see what it was like haha. Might be prepared to get one to supplement my 7D as a holiday camera rather than professional. Must go round and do his firmware actually.

ha! I've done exactly that, I'm very generous with presents but that usually means it's something I end up using more than the recipient... Still got my ex's Panasonic GF5 in my rucksack as we speak!
Thanks for the info, I'm more than tempted to buy one, mainly because the reviews I've read seem to be universally complimentary apart from the AF performance, which seems to have been pretty much sorted with the latest firmware... Also there is a compatible version of Magic Lantern which I read is awesome.
At £300 for something which was £700+ a year ago, you can't go far wrong.

D'oh just read the info on Flickr : ISO 6400? Not bad for a sensor which has 'issues' at ISO over 1600...

Just to say, i ordered this yesterday, and received this morning. Lightning delivery.

Also, IT ARRIVED WITH THE SPEEDLITE 90EX!!!!!

The adapter was not in the package and was stated that this will be dispatched in a later order.

Interesting fact, the order came with two invoices. One for the eos m kit (£250.58) and the other for the ef adapter (£94.42). So in theory, i could potentially return the ef adapter, and after cashback get the system+flash for £200.58!

Also not sure if i need the speedlite, might sell that also...

Gonna order one out of curiosity! Let us know what you think of it, picture quality and AF speed...
Speedlight goes for 80ish quid on eBay!

Charging battery atm. First impression is good.! Wish it wasnt the glossy white one tho, wouldve preferred black.
But hey, for the price, im loving the white.

I know, dont really know why the speedlite fetch so much. Will sell quick befo canon release more versions together with the upcoming eosm systems.

Need to update firmwire. The old version's af with the 18-55 is not amazing but probably usable. Havent received the ef adapter yet so cant test.

... Also, how do you find the handling? Read in a review that the white version was slippery / difficult to hold cos of its shiny coating, I can't imagine this being an issue to be honest.

If anything, the shiny surface gives you more grip... Lol. I dont think its a problem if you are not using gloves with it. Tbh as a dslr user, the fact that its *tiny* makes it feel slippery/droppable in the first place. Just have to grip it from the lens side haha.

Handling is ok, need to keep right thumb free to touch-focus at all times which is a little awkward

Can you use legacy lenses with adaptor on this camera? Focus peaking (does this camera have it)

Is there a good portrait lens for this camera ? Bokeh etc

The 22mm F/2 is a very sharp lens with good bokeh, certainly a good one for portraits and low light shooting. It's focal length on this crop sensor is the equivalent of the classic 35mm lens on a full frame. It can also focus on objects only 6 inches away so great for closeup work as well.

kenrockwell.com/can…htm

The thing about this kit is the 18-55 lens that comes with it is miles better than most other 18-55 kit lenses. Very sharp, great image stabilisation and a lovely metal zoom ring, along with STM (Which means silent focusing which is great for video autofocus so the motor noise doesn't appear in the audio.

You can use all canon EF eos lenses like the 50mm F/1.8 etc.

For focus peaking, I think you can get it by installing magic lantern on the camera, although it's still in an alpha stage for the EOS M.7
Magic Lantern for EOS M

Be careful not to update your firmware on the Eos M if you want to try magic lantern as it only works at the minute on the older firmware.

DO you mean like an M42 and Pentax K and Canon FD mounts and the like for old manual lenses, well you can for canon EF and the included adapter gives you that mount so the short answer is yes.

Plenty of converters on ebay.

This thread has some good info about it:

dpreview.com/for…227
"...You can also find similar adapters for old manual focus lenses for Nikon, Olympus, Contax/Yashica, Leica R, Pentax K, and some others."

yep flickr.com/pho…ta/ I have only taken a couple of pics with it so far (this pic was taken by a friend at glastonbury with my camera) i brought it just for its size and have been impressed so far. I also have the lens adaptor and it looks kinda weird with a 70-200 2.8 attached, nice it has that ability. I could'nt get it to work with my speedlite (430) but it works fine with the bundled one. I need to check that btw.

With a manual lens can you focus peak? How would you know when things are in focus
