39 months with no interest to pay on balance transfers @ Tesco Bank (£29 Quidco)

Why pay interest when you don't have to? If you've got outstanding balances on other credit cards or store cards and are paying a higher rate of interest, you could save money by transferring them. Pay off the total transferred over a 39 month period and there is no interest to pay on that amount.

0% interest on balance transfers for the first 39 months with a 2.69% fee
0% interest on money transfers to your bank account for the first 39 months with a 3.94% fee
0% interest on balance and money transfers is applied to any transfers made within the first 90 days of opening your account, if you make your minimum repayments on time and in full each month. You can transfer up to 95% of your credit limit

Ditto!
Good deal if you are sensible with your credit. Put your day to day spending on a 0% purchase credit card and flip to a 0% balance transfer card. Keep the money you would have spent in the bank or offset your mortgage. Ok you don't save a massive amount but a couple of hundred quid a year of "free money" isn't too bad.
How this compare to the Virgin deal posted few days ago? What's difference?

You do realise you can get more then 1. I've got 3 tesco bank credit cards.
What are they link with balance limits?
I've just got the 21 months 0% balance transfer card with no fee through top cashback and got £33. This is literally free money as I've not paid a transfer fee. Also I think by putting a balance on it I've also got club card points too. I would go for this one. Winner winner chicken dinner
Im V tempted! Does this do balance transfer to bank accounts? Only ones Im aware of are Virgin and MBNA?

Be vary careful with Tesco credit cards as it often isn't clear if a card includes bank transfers as well as balance transfers. I applied to a card I thought allowed for 0% bank transfers and got a nasty surprise when I got the first bill.

Got no warnings that it would be full interest for bank transfers, phoned up to complain and got "well you should have applied for our bank transfer card instead" (which I didn't even know was a different thing to apply for). Checking on their site, it seems the offers fluctuate between including and excluding them (without explicitly saying so) on their balance transfers card which is confusing as hell.

Currently in the process of filing a complaint with the ombudsman.

Don't really understand 0% on balance transfers, does that mean i can cover my hsbc credit card debt *on which one already being charged interest * and then pay back this card balance without being charged interes on transfered money? Can anyone explain. Many thanks in advance..

Yeh
So if I'm getting this right, it's free to transfer your balance but you still have to pay 2.69 or is ot the 3.94%?

Surely you're better off with the shorter deal on the other Tesco Balance Transfer Card where it's completely free for 24 months, and then see about shifting it elsewhere at the end of that?

I noticed that they also had a 21 months 0% interest on purchases card and couldn't find any reference to it on HUKD so posted it to see if people think it's any good. (I don't have debts to transfer but the 21 months without interest is handy for my situation)
Heat, got the £40 cashback last time but never moved anything to the card as was already on a 24 month free deal with Lloyds, & got a letter yesterday saying card now closed so time to reapply and get some more free cashback

What are the percentages quoted in the blurb relating to then? I'm not really up on these situations but I'm looking for my Aunt who has money that she's paying interest on.

Is there any point applying for this I have been turned down for the AA and Virgin cards in the past week.

2 x £10,000 credit cards with 23% interest payable next month on one of them! Desperate.

If you keep apply for credit in such a short time you will appear more and more desperate and it comes up on your credit score. 0% cards are usually quite harder to get accepted on.
these deals live on the people who cant pay it off in 39 months then you get hammered. To be sure never use the card again and pay it off 1/38 a month over the next 38 months if thats all you can afford.
ALthough if you can get the deal with no admin fee thats even better.

Probably not, every card application will be marked on your credit rating and I'm sure Tesco are already one one of the fussier ones with the 0% deals. Might have more success looking for a low interest rate loan at this stage. Or speaking to citizens advice for some help before you're in a real mess.

transfer your balance to another card, so that it ends up in credit.
then just give card 2 a call and ask for your credit back...

Great deal if you make sure it's your last credit card. Get those balances cleared!
Any one know that if you had a credit card (in this case a tesco CC) and paid it off and cancelled it a few months back, that you can open a new one and start with the same offers as this one?

Shouldn't see why not as long as you closed of your previous CC amicablly, also as its a new application I shouldn't see why you can't receive the offer

Maybe call Tesco up and ask what their terms are, they may have a period before you can apply again for a card again but they will advise

I find credit cards a minefield.
I want to buy a car, I have all the money for the car, I just want a credit card for the extra protection, are there any cards which would suit me (without any fees). Any help greatly appreciated.

You only need to put a tenner (not even that !) on your cc card for the extra section 75 protection a purchased item that costs more than £100 and less than £30k , I would imagine any cc card would give you this . I used First Direct recently for a claim under section 75 for my car purchase earlier this year and it was dealt with efficiently by them. I did have a rock solid claim though and got paid out £900 for a new clutch and flywheel for a 2nd hand car ( clutch was slightly slipping within days of buying it ) - good job for section 75 as the dealer didn't want to know !

PS - Make sure you are issued with a receipt to state that the part payment by CC is part of the car purchase and therefore no dispute can arise as to what the cc payment was for , this I believe is quite important.

Is it possible to use to pay off existing bank loans?
What's the maximum amount you can transfer with the Tesco card? The Fluid credit card was good for doing a balance transfer and then transferring the money to a bank account. Only problem is once the account goes to zero, they automatically shut your account.

Credit cards can be rather odd. My sister earns way more than me and is in a more established profession, yet she was offered only £1200 with the Tesco credit card and rejected by the AA card. She was accepted by Virgin and given the maximum. I wonder how they work out who to reject and who to accept because there doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern.
