3DS XL Silver + Black + New Super Mario Bros 2 bundle for £99 instore at Tesco. Also had the white version with Mario Kart for the same price. This offer was advertised in the gaming aisle so assuming it's not store specific. Purchased from Widnes Extra.

Been thinking about a DS for a while now - how does this compare to the New 3DS and does anyone worry what their new technology will be coming later this year?

from what I can gather, there's only 1(I think) game that only runs on the New 3DS, the rest just run slightly better (better frame rates, higher quality textures and such). The new one also has amiibo support without having to buy the reader separately, if you care about that at all

The new one also has head tracking so you get the 3D effect most of the time.
wanted one of these but have never had them in any stores near me

I'm in the same boat. just can not decide if the new one is worth the premium.

It's worth it if you have no 3ds already. The other new only title is the binding of Issac digital game in the 3 store.
North Shields had one of these in stock last time the previous 3DS deal was posted (albeit it wasn't on offer at the time when scanned). Might still be there.
That fatal word "instore" . Please bring back online only deals option HUKD. These instore deals are a complete waste of time.
is the original 3DS still in production? the new one came out a year and a half ago ..still old stock about?
For an extra £35-40 (if you get a £5 OFF £50 voucher) you can get the Animal Crossing New 3DS XL from GAME.
IMHO its worth the little bit extra. Its not just exclusive games (which there are only 2 of), the face tracking 3D, button layout, C-Stick, Amiibo support make it a more rounded console.

the older xl's are I would think but the first ones, the metallic aqua blue model and the like are long gone. But...still boxed up as new on some shelves where they've been for years now.
I chased the Geese all the way to my local Tesco and surprise surprise they didn't lead me to this deal
Buying an old 3ds at this stage is backward... have you seen the fps on some of the new games? Its unplayable on the old 3ds and these games are not new 3ds exclusives either!

Avoid! Pay the extra few quid for the new 3ds or youll just regret it.

All the Tesco near me have no Nintendo products at all.

Same, massive Tesco extra in Poole and not a Nintendo product in sight.
Just got one of these in the Poole extra! Great find thanks OP

Don't forget you'll need a New 3DS to play the recently-released SNES games, like Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Mario Kart, Earthbound, F-Zero, Donkey Kong... I find it hard to believe that the original DS could play Mario 64, yet the Old 3DS struggles with Mario World, but whatever.

I'm tempted to pick up a New 3DS as the price is gradually falling, but reckon I'll wait and see what the story is with Nintendo's new thing.

yeah I spotted that but it looks terrible. Didn't active my nostalgia gland at all. Piloting's resort isn't that bad and you can pick it up for less than the snes eshop game just in case anyone is curious.

Are you sure about that?

Unfortunately, yes.

A couple of guys above mentioned Pilotwings working on the old 3DS but, confusingly, this Nintendo eShop listing suggests it's 'New 3DS XL only':

Sorry its just so barking mad its hard to believe. Nintendo are making some dreadful decisions lately. No one is going to ditch their existing 3DS and buy a New 3DS console just to play a few decent and very old now SNES games.

No worries, dude. Apparently the New 3DS is significantly more powerful, but it's still quite hard to believe.

And I agree about the terrible decisions. How many people, beyond nerds like us, really understand the difference between a 3DS and a 'New 3DS', or a Wii and a Wii U?
Chances of getting one at Cheshunt (Head office) branch?
