Don't think there's any need to activate the contract so I'm treating this as a 'throw away' one month mobile data access.

sounds as tho u need to activate it first to get your free 5gb , cant see it just being plug in n go thing without activating first

Just activate it for the 5Gb and then give the 30 days notice

Agreed - this just seems to good to be true. They must know people will just by 12 of these and bingo 12 month prepaid data 'contract' for £12.

It says "just phone a supplied number to activate your contract, with £15 payable each subsequent month"

Has anybody experience with what is involved in the activatino process. Surely it will be 1 per household?

I would never use 3 again. Their customer servise is almost no existant. I have tried to call them many times. I bought a 6 month preloaded dongle and it got scratched but they would not replace it, instead i had to buy another dongle and this time its T mobile and i lost what i had paid with 3.

I came to the conclusion that if you wanted to purchase from them then you have no problem making contact but if you have a problem, forget it.

has anyone else had problems with 3?

Just ordered 2, sounds like a pay as you go style thing to me. Dongle comes pre loaded with 5GB of data allowance and then you need to top up whenever you want with £15 that will last 30 days. I think that is the case anyway, if not it is only £2 down the drain so no big loss there. Thanks OP

I think you need to activate the contract before you get the 5gb for free

So if you activatre it then give 30 days notice straight away would i still be liable for that first month at 15.99?

The description is a bit ambiguous - it was previously priced at £19 if that makes any odds!

that sounds like the usb key may have 5gb pre loaded

According to the PCWorld website, you have to sign up to the contract and cancel straight away otherwise you'll be billed £15.99?

I think thats exactly the point. No matter what you will incur one month, otherwise it is like a PAYG as a previous poster suggested - however there ARE PAYG offerings on the PcWorld site but more money.

Search PCworld for 457953 and you'll see a real PAYG one with bundled allowance out of the box.

Can anyone get the checkout to work at PC world?

Success after switching to ie from firefox and using mc instead of amex (neither worked in firefox)

Hmm, whether or not I'll get 5Gb, surely it will go well with the 3 SIM preloaded with3Gb from Amazon that was on here yesterday.

Anyway, they have them in stock locally, and I have one reserved - we'll see.

Great spot OP - thanks.

White.

They let you buy a max of two, I have just reserved two and I am on my way down with my £5 free voucher so hopefully they wont cost me a thing.

you 100% would.
but rates on pay as you go are not so good:
50p for 50mb (one day internet)
5£ for 500mb
15£ for 300mins, 3000txts and 500mb (plus 150mb youget for free when you top-up)

ive used 500mb in a few days just surfing, now media streaming or other downloads at all

can you use the discount codes from the giveaway magazines? i have one written down but im not sure if it needs activating online?

I was just going to get the sim cards off amazon or ebay with the 3GB preloaded on them for around £7-8 Thanks for your help mate

Just a note re the £5 voucher - I bought goods at £4.99 and they refused to sell them to me unless I spent over £5 - during the arguement I just lost the will to live and stormed out.

Did you really need to PM me? I think most people will realise it's available at Currys also.

Thanks order one

thanks OP - worth a go for sure

thanks OP lets see what we get, worth a christmas punt

reads like yes it comes with a free 5GB of data but you have to start a contract to get this free amount
Yes it looks like you can then give your 30 day notice to cancel so you dont have to pay the next months £15.99 . BUT given the way all things like this end up you will not for somereason or other get the 30 days notice to the right personat the right time and the dd of £15.99 will comeout of your account
Worse Case Scenario - you end up paying £15.99 for 2 months use with 5gb use each month

very good

Cannot get checkpout to work in ie or firefox - visa or mastercard

£18.99 ??

Yes a lot of people realise that Currys and PC World are more or less the same. But equally a lot of people (including i suspect, some of the employees) won't realise. So calm down everyone
