In relation to the network for making and receiving calls, my phone automatically selected the correct network to tag on to. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact network naming convention. Billing wasn't an issue at all. After I returned back home to London, I cancelled the rolling monthly contract and terminated the PayPal automatic payment association.
Yep.
DIFFERENT SPEEDS ON DIFFERENT NETWORKS SHOCKER!
Nah, name me a country where there is no corruption. So you are admitting that you obtain sim card by corruption. I thought as much. (edited)
without the ID not even in the dream it is possible even if you know Ambani personally. May be you know your relatives who give you one
Just do it with another email address
It's Vodafone was just as good signal wise but no WiFi calling of course .
Well find what GB you require then.
Fair means with no ID? don't think so
Thank you ...does it have to be a new SIM card? Doesn't seem to work if it's not new
For 99p give it ago
Thank you
I used the sim in Gujarat only, in Ahmedabad mainly. I was getting 10MB speed in the city which was fine for me as I mainly used the Reliance Jio sim for regular use.
WhatsApp was fine. You can use your international roaming allowance for making calls in India to local numbers.
SHOCKER THREE HAS FASTER SPEED
Smoking deal to be used as a backup SIM or for people with very low usage due to working from home, using for many months and they are fault less.
Shall edit, cheers fella
I know some MVNOs lose HD/wifi calling etc (edited)
How can you keep the same number?
They own Talkmobile as swell so why don't they help them aswell
How come then that Talkmobile (runs on VF, owned by VF) has no WiFi calling, while Asda Mobile (runs on VF, not owned by them) does have it?
Funnily enough I believe the same applies for 4G calling and 5G too, for the same providers. (edited)
Yup, I do exactly the same apart from sticking it in the MiFi. I keep it in the phone so I can still make calls and use data when I arrive in Mumbai. When I get to my village I top up my Jio SIM and stick that in my MiFi.
Yes indeed Reliance Jio is awesome, rs300(£3) per 28 days for 2gb high speed mobile data plus unlimited low speed mobile data.
Yes but getting a local sim card for whichever network is a real pain in the neck. Proof of identity etc and the amount of paperwork involved in the process is horrendous and I am not exaggerating.
It's who you know, I don't need any ID when I arrive. I'm the boss (edited)
🤠
EDIT : Surely you don't mean Ambanis ! I think I will have to get in touch with you to get the sim card by fair means or foul for my next visit to India (edited)
I totally agree. Although ID, address checks etc are cumbersome, they are there for good reason(s) even when we find them taxing and frustrating. (edited)
Nah, everything is corrupt in that country. My family are quite well known and respected so I just get little things like SIMs and stuff easily without any faff.
Oh so you mean because they are well known and respected they take the SIM without the ID. That is also a kind of corruption that you should know

Hi both..I'm planning a trip to India later this year. Other than Mumbai did you use it in any other cities / states?
What types of data speeds did you get using the Lebara sim card in your mifi / phone?
Any issues using apps like WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram etc?
I thought Lebara also included local calls in India... perhaps I imagined it!
Thanks (edited)
Thanks alot for sharing your experience. It's helpful.
Did you manage to use your call allowance to make local calls? Was call quality ok and no issues with billing?
I'm guessing you had to stick to on just the Vodafone network to use your call and data allowances?
Thanks again, I appreciate the extra information.
