I am not aware of ever having seen a 3TB drive on here, let alone an external one, and so I am listing it in case it is just what one or lots of you have been waiting for.

Can't seem to change the link to deal so use this one maplin.co.uk/Mod…961 which is exactly the same link and shouldn't take you to batteries as it worked for me before I posted.

Also, checking out the item on the Maplins site would answer the connectivity questions.

With nothing to compare it to, i dont know if this is a good deal or not.

Is it USB 2/3 or eSATA?

In any case, 3tb is a LOT of data to lose if it ever went pear shaped...

BTW, the link takes you to batteries.

If you're running a 32bit OS then this probably isn't worth it as the addressing of 3TB maybe an issue.

It's usb 2.0 also, which is not ideal for such a large volume drive.

Maybe of interest to someone though....

This is a false argument - if you need to backup 3TB of data then one 3TB drive is better than 3 x 1TB drives. If your data is really precious then you should have multiple physical backups in different locations.

It doesnt make it a false argument, Mr. Smarty Pants. I just have a different view to you.

Live with it.

I suspect this'll have 2x1.5tb drives inside.

GoFlex seems quite good idea; you can upgrade the connector to USB3 or Firewire 800 - The deal is for the standard USB 2 version.- you can buy a USB 3 connector for around £20.

I stand corrected. Thanks for going the legwork in finding that out.
