they seem to have a physical address so that's the only reason of thinking of buying from them. and they have sold quite a lot!

Which 700tvl camera have you got, I need a decent one if you can reccomended

Not latest spec! Nowadays everything is 960h !
I would pay extra and future proof yourself!
Here's one found on amazon
Raven hd1000 similar price - much better price considering it is branded!

Kevhky - check maxx digital for
Cameras, 960h plus Sony chipset!

Agree , this is ideal . Just get 4 700TVL cameras from ebay and you have quite a decent system .

" future proof yourself!"

is anything future proof ? They'll have a complete new recording format in a few months time,no doubt .

Dont wait for something to happen in terms of a burglary or malicious damage and say .................I'm waiting for the latest technology before buying a system .

Get a system NOW !

Does anyone use one of these systems with Wifi Camera at a distance of over 80 metres?

HammerTime

That link doesn't work for the camera

Is it very good

HammerTime sorry mate I got it to work Doh !!!!!

Is the camera very good then as I've seen a very similar one for around £30 on eBay

These small Dvr have issues with over heating !! So be careful.

The smallest Dvr I have found that is good is the Swann or raven hd1000
Swann has more feedback, but more expensive and a lot less features.

In terms of the future proof comment, 960h is resolution next one up is HD.
So your good to go for about 5years with the raven!

Item number: 221302205263
It's £45 but it's from a CCTV company. and there very helpful.

I was planning on using through one of these:

http://upload.ecvv.com/upload/Product/20118/China_YS_BNC01_BNC_to_VGA_video_Converter20118261634012.JPG

but i seem to have interference of some sort because there's lines going through it! So i'm looking at DVR's now instead.

The Camera quality is excellent!

It's a 960H 700TVL 1/3" Sony Super HAD CCD camera with Effio E DSP in weatherproof IP65 rated enclosure

2.8-12mm with varifocal lens.

So i should avoid the small ones and unbranded ones?

I found a Raven HD1000 for £139 with a 500gb.

I was hoping to spend as little as possible, Main reason for it's function is for monitoring not security. But I'd rather have better quality that will last.

This may sound silly but will a DVR work without a Hard drive init - obviously it won't record but would i be able to view the camera's still?

Like LIVE monitoring.

Correct ! - no HDD no recording.
Get the raven, comes with 2year warranty and I think they do price match... But not sure

Good deal,,,, please anybody recommend with this 4 CCTV CCD camera, anyone know please put a link on, thanks

posted some good cams earlier mate

How's everyone getting one with their gear, and what did you go for in the end?
I only ask as our car has been keyed twice over Christmas, and all the police could do was suggest we install cctv!
Got £100 - £150 to spend on a system, was looking at an ip camera, but a tree slightly catches the line of sight from where the camera will go and I can't place it anywhere else, so the motion detection would be useless. Thus looking at a continuous recording kit with just one external camera.
Question though - I'm thinking of having the dvr in the bedroom as outside the bedroom, under the window, is where the camera will be placed. Does the dvr have to connect to the broadband router, as this is downstairs?
Thanks

You only really need to connect the DVR to internet if you want to view the cameras through Live feeds.

I've found a kit that I'm going to buy today, 500gb hardrive dvr with 4 x bullet cameras at 900tvl, and I've just noticed that the dvr is noted as having a USB Wireless Network Card /3G Wireless Network Card - so would I have to buy any addition equipment to make the dvr wireless, and if so what? Thanks anyone.

Ok, theres no other way to word this, other than to say I caught a chap trying to sneak in my back door in the middle of the night last year after checking my CCTV footage the following morning. He basically tried the back door handle, and seeing as it was locked moved on (presumably to the next house to try theirs!).

Anyway, needless to say, I called the police, and showed them the footage which they took away. Later that same morning I received a call to say the burglary team had recognised the guy and he was now in one of their police cellls as a result!.

He was actually on probation (for the same offence) and was thrown back into jail a week later. So a result.

It it wasnt my house, it would have been the next, or maybe yours, or your parents, so it got another one off the streets 5(for a while).

that's strange it doesn't show any WiFi card unless it's built in which highly doubt for that price.

I think it may mean it's compatible to take a USB WiFi dongle to connect to the internet.

Hmmm dunno, but it looks a lot of kit for the money, especially like the hdmi output on the dvr and 4 x camera's at 900tvl. Seems a lot of the Floureon kits about but very little in the way of reviews.

Just be careful on the camera spec they maybe 900tvl but iv;e learnt a lot about the sensors too.

I see this cam is a

Image Sensor Type: CMOS

Which is much poorer.

Go for a CCD I or CCD II cam.

Your much better of spending more on the camera than the DVR.

For example I spent £45 (clearance price) on a 960h 700TVL 1/3" Sony Super HAD CCD camera with Effio E DSP.

The picture quality is amazing!! i'm pretty confident it would walk all over this 900tvl CMOS camera.

The i spent like £45 on a DVR![b] KONGTOP 4CH 4 Channel Full D1 H264 Network CCTV Security DVR

lol what a minefield this is, though guess the longer I take in deciding what to get means the budget increases as have saved a little more. Perhaps I need more confidence in buying the gear separately rather than in a kit.

I was like you mate, there's so much available! took me good 2-3 weeks until I bought something LOL!

[b]I think it depends on what your using it for?

I am merely using mine for monitoring at my business premises. So i only needed an outdoor camera. my one also has a manual zoom.
