Thought this looked a great offer on an internal door (genuinely didn't realise much they cost until I needed to replace one a dog chewed).

Had a good look around & this seems to be the best price for this type of door by quite a margin - you can C+C for Free or get it home delivered (Free wys £75 / £7.95 for orders under £75)

Excellent reviews on the site too

The oak veneer Thame doors feature a distinct five-panel square-groove design that can fit into any style of home.

  • This door has a five-panel square-groove design that can fit into any style of home
  • Constructed from mixed materials including timber, real wood veneers and man-made materials
  • Engineered composite core construction for greater resistance to warping, twisting and splitting than traditional timber doors
  • Door requires finishing using a suitable Ronseal paint, stain or varnish found in your local branch. These doors are not suitable for treatment/finishing with any kind of oil, wax or polish which will cause the oak veneer to de-laminate
  • Extra thick lipping allows you to trim up to 20mm in width and 20mm in height from the door
  • 3 x 76mm or 100mm butt hinges should be fitted to this door. Door furniture is sold separately
  • Glazed and fire door versions in this range are also available
  • This is a natural timber product and variances in texture, colour and grain may be apparent

Brilliant. I saw these a few weeks ago but have been looking for prefinished. However, prefinished cost just over a grand for me.
Just ordered these for a tad over £600, so I will just have to oil these suckers myself. No biggy. Done it before and they come up great.
Great find OP. You saved me a few hundred quid and I saved myself a bit extra. ;-)

What did you use to treat the doors? I have some oak veneer doors from wickes, different design though

In my head I have 22 May but please check for yourself.
The doors are only on offer till Monday.
This is brilliant. I've got some doors exactly like this except they were ready to hang so came finished. I think they cost me £100 each.

Just bought a new house and was keen on getting the same doors but cost was prohibitive seeing as I need about 18 doors.

This deal is spot on, though I'll have to factor in cost of the ronseal treatment and not sure if I'll pay someone or do it myself. I'm not a good DIYer

I'll have to double check the cost of the finished ones and see what the difference is.

OP, which price were you finding these doors at?

Oil them after hanging. They probably say don't oil but it will be too cover themselves but I have oiled hundreds of them and no problems as yet.

Ronseal Colron Refined Danish Oil is £10 at wickes at the moment.. That's a steal too.

Please don’t use any oil or wax based products on oak veneered doors. You could run the risk of the product reacting with the glue causing the veneer to delaminate.

I’d suggest to use a water based varnish or stain.
I have a similar door from XL Joinery, got them around 7 years ago.

If you like the colour and look of untreated doors then be sure to buy an oil or stain with white pigment in it, otherwise the doors will darken considerably. Osmo have various options available.

The stuff I used was called Blanchon Original wood environment which is a water based stain.

I've worked with veneered panels for 30+ years and have never had this happen - and that's coating with all kinds of different finishes. The veneers will be near impossible to delaminate under normal internal household conditions.
Doors out of stock for delivery, though might be in stock at stores. It's not great Wickes have a 4 day deal but after 2 days you can't order it anymore.

I'm a carpenter and oiled and waxed 100s.. not 1 door has reacted... thay say don't do it to cover there backs if anything happens as they don't trust there own cheep product.
Mine arrive today. Has anybody received their Thame doors and what did you think? Question for the better informed: do they NEED a finish on them if they look good without one?

Yes they need a finish otherwise dirty marks won't easily be removed and more importantly the will absorb and moisture and humidity causing swelling and warping over time.

Correct about them being cheap doors!! There imported from China by the container.
Are people happy with the door so far?
