I regularly get the pizza & drink deal for £2 after 4pm.
The pizze and drink deal for £2 has been available for some time near WImbledon station but they all run out by 5pm
Evening meal but you have to have it cold
This sounds cheaper than a steak dinner at a Bernie Inn...

They were doing this a while ago but stopped - glad its coming back but hopefully it will be all day as those spicy chicken bites are really nice for £1.50!
So is that picture, what looks like 4 chicken bites, supposed to be a meal ?

If it brings more business then good. Greggs food has been cold or lukewarm for years because it's so quiet. Used to be hot.
Well well one to go for one of these days
Left overs deal, makes sense
Greggs ??? Open past 4pm ??? Not near me there not.
Greggs idea of a meal differs wildly from mine!

It depends on what the item is. The chicken strips and wedges are kept in a hot cabinet and will be hot, but this means you pay VAT on them. The pasties, bakes and sausage rolls are baked and then left to cool so they are hot when they come out the oven but may not be hot when you buy it, but there is no VAT as they are not sold as hot so the prices are lower.

This is why the pizza slice deal is much cheaper than the hot sandwich, as if they sell it as a hot sandwich then there is VAT tax on it making the price higher.

In Manchester City centre , most have been open until 8pm for at least ten years. Even in in “the sticks” they should be open until at least 5, 5:30pm! Where are you?

But in general no nutritionally worse than a similar product from Pret. Both stores make their sandwiches in store...
Very unfair on the staff. Did anyone really ask for this? Greggs are making great profits as they are.

Basically if it is sold as HOT (such as sandwiches, soup, chicken strips) then you pay VAT but it will be hot. If it is a sausage roll or similar then it is sold as hot out the oven but can be cold and there is no VAT.

Jeez. Really? For all you know some staff may appreciate the extra hours, or it may offer new job opportunities for people that are out of work. For a large employer, Greggs score pretty well in employee satisfaction responses, I understand their pay rates are reasonable, and if they want it staff get 50% off food.

It's 2019, not the 1960s. Greggs needs to remain competitive to protect and grow its market position. That can only be good for the 1000s of workers it employees. Would you suggest McDonalds closes at 5pm?

Why on earth is it unfair to give the staff opportunity to earn more, or choose for suitable hours? If they dont want or need the extra hours, there are plenty more who will.

Oh dear. 🤢
