I wanted individually switched sockets as I don't want my daughter constantly plugging into her cheaper unswitched adapter. Much safer plus I think it helps to not leave things on standby when they are not going to be used for a while. This unit also has a Neon light so that you know when it is powered up too.

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE "GET DEAL" BUTTON ON THE RIGHT TO GET THE DISCOUNT PRICE

Manufacturer: PRO ELEC
Manufacturer Part No: 9393(5N)-2M
Four gang extension
Individually switched sockets with neon indicator

Thanks. Does anyone know of a switch extension with surge protection please? preferably a 6 plug switch extension.

Plus 20% vat on that price

Looks like with the switch it gives a bigger gap between sockets for adaptors ie network plugs

Check the CPC website, they often have them with similar offers as this one, here is an 8 gang. I have this and it is brilliant, tho I paid less for it:

Should be as long as the lead is not at risk of getting wet or crushed or is exposed to the heat of a fire etc . .
Hope this helps.

Heat added order placed

If CPC do not show a photo of the product you can often find a picture of it by clicking a link on the left hand side, but lower down called "Further Information"
This is the page for further information on the link that Ken gave you
But it only shows a photo of the 4 way unit - It could be 8 in line sockets but i think it is 2 rows of 4 like in this link . . . Hot Deal Now Expired

You will also find the same picture if you search Amazon for the manufacturers number which is 2818SP

OK thanks, not neon though?

This is great value if the switches are good; not if they're horrible cheap things whose contacts weld together.

They sell. surge protected plugtop (replacement plug) that will turn any extension or into a surge protected one.
Also handy if you have one that has blown.
Not sure what the current price is but I got a few for a couple of quid each.

Surge protection is not a magic bullet. As stated in another thread, it's probably absolutely minimal. We never used to worry about it until it was constantly drummed into us by makers of surge-protected extension leads that we must have them...

Here is an Adapter that can convert non-surge extensions into surge protected ones for £3.24
Convert your extension to surge protected simply by plugging it into it. Alternatively you can also hardwire your lead into it, which I think gives you an extra socket on the plug itself.

Also This 3 Way Surge Protector Will Convert The Listed Extension Into A Surge Protected One For Just £1.64

nice, ordered x2 and heated

No surge protection? Avoid unless you wanna buy a new TV or phone if you happen to get a surge :P

This is the thing I bought but they seem to have gone up in price now.
I paid £2.03 each, I guess they will be on offer again at some point.

Both of the adapters I specified are current special offers as they both normally sell for about a fiver on CPC, Amazon or Ebay.
Your protected plug top looks neat and compact and a real bargain at £2.03 so I hope that they come back on offer as I will definitely buy some.

thanks kenwebb1953 grigs & n00b for your help. much appreciated helped me out no end. awesome
