Ordered a couple, thanks.

You get them free at most high street o2 or ee shop ??

I was under the impression you could somehow cut the SIM's down to size....

You can but these make them bigger again.

I bought a pack of these, or ones that look very similar to it, from an eBay seller called "eco-tec", and the holders are very good - MUCH better than the ones EE gave me free, they hold up to use much better than the ones ee gave me, and we've had less broken sim contacts using them when compared to the original EE ones - though I guess EE may not always give out the same holders, maybe we were just unlucky.

Very good find op
Very handy

good deal. these are always needed.

Ive been into an o2 shop on the high street and they give you these free over the counter so why pay for something you can get for free?

I tried that the other week when my new smartphone wouldn't accept the larger sim I had in my previous one, only accepted micro sims. So I tried cutting it down to size and it still didn't work. Had to get a new sim and lost my contacts, etc. So I wish this deal had come up a couple of weeks ago.

I recently bought something similar from Chancery Chair Covers eBay store. The sim adapter was too thick to fit into the slot on my phone, ie it is thicker than a standard sim. Avoid.

Strange I cut a normal size sim down so it would fit a micro sim phone and it will worked fine.
All as I did is use a craft knife and cut it down to a micro sim template I had.

The seller must be laughing their heads off with the amount of profit they are probably making, they probably buy these for 20p or make them for 5p.

thanks OP

Whether it works will depend on the make and model of the sim card. Many can be cut down, but some older ones cannot.

Think people are missing the point of this....

If your SIM is a big one like standard or Micro, this won't make is smaller.

This is to allow you to use your Nano SIM in another variety of handset, for example going from iPhone 5s to iPhone 4 (or any other phone) like I had to recently while waiting for a replacement handset.

So just because the ones you bought from someone else which were "similar" didn't work, that means all versions don't work?! oO

Bought similier twice before. rubbish quality. 1 lots the micro sim didnt fit into it and the other lot snapped.

I didn't have a craft knife or a micro sim to use as a template. A pair of scissors I'm afraid and a rough guess.

Nice find OP.

Ordered a couple. For 99p each, you can't go wrong. If they're cack, you've wasted a quid!

Just picked up one of these for free from my local O2 shop less than an hour ago, only difference is it doesn't come with the pin.

Just a note for a few of you, after my own recent experience (a negative one)......

These should only be used for a temporary fix. These are not a permanent remedy to using a different or new phone.

Go to the store of your carrier and request a 'SIM swap'. They will give you the appropriate sized SIM for your new/alternative handset and transfer your number across.

Everyone should transfer contacts from SIM to handset before performing this action, as you may lose your contacts as your (no redundant SIM) will be deactivated and you will no longer have access to the info on it.

People have mentioned you can obtain these packs for free from your provider, so i've not voted hot or cold as some people may not have a shop near them for example.

I had a couple of these but either the SIMs didn't fit or they snapped.

I found that just sliding the SIM straight in without an adapter works best. Just make sure it's in the right position and it works fine.

Obviously if it's a tray system or something it probably won't work, but for the old put it in behind the battery job you don't need an adapter at all.

piece of scrap rigid plastic packaging (e.g. yoghurt pot) + craft knife = sim holder

I do just that with my ZTE Blade. Using the sim adapter from the Three store actually damaged one of the gold contacts (the contact prong got hooked between the edge of the micro sim and the full size sim adapter).

Yeah and then at best post them second class for 50p, making an insane 30p profit per item sold!

Just think if he sells 1000 he will have made £300!!! ohh i can hear the laughs from here X)

Voted cold - this is the standard price for this and in plentiful supply from many suppliers.

I don't see why you couldnt use these as a permanent fix. The sim shouldnt move around in the holder so why does it matter?

Not my opinion mate, but the opinion of o2 and 3 mobile technical teams. Like I say, only going on my experience, but the shops are actually discouraged from giving this out now, preferring to do a sim swap in all circumstances.

It not being a one-piece insert could cause problems if it were to become lose in any way and could mess up the inner components of your handset, as a couple of people above have mentioned.

End of the day, do as you will, I am using one now to house my nano sim in my old iPhone 4 and have had no problems, but not the case for everyone.

Was under impression that the high street phone shops provide these for free if you have their sim. I've had a couple from EE recently.

ideal to allow me to use my unlimited data on my HTC one in my Galaxy camera now and again :-) Cheers OP

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't see how it would affect it. I guess 'losing' the sim inside the phone could be a problem.

A bit risky using adapters as the sim can get stuck! Be careful

These cost £4.99 in carphonewarehouse - link
So I recon it's a bargain , heat added.

Or an iPhone 5 to an old Nokia say, which could be even better.

Can't say I argue with that. My life was so much simpler with this bad boy....
