I bought one yesterday, they seem very solid, I've used the strimmer/brush cutter and hedge attachments upto now and both work well, with plenty of power (the hedge cutters were cutting some really thick branches). The way the tools attach is very good, nice strong connectors which can be easily released without much fuss.

This is 42cc too, it's unleaded with 2 Stroke mix. Just used it constant for 3 hours cutting hedges and it worked a treat.

What petrol do you put in these?? Leaded or unleaded. Also is there any indication of what cc the motor is??

Thinking of getting one tomorrow morning. I found a much cheaper one at screw fix but its only 25cc. I want at least 42cc.

I can't get the strummer to spin fast enough. What am I doing wrong?

    The way mine works is:
Pull choke (plastic tab at back)
    Start engine
Press both levers together, this then releases the choke and off I go.

Make sure the choke is releasing, other than that i'm not sure, it's the easiest starting machine I have owned.

Mine was a git to put together as the strimmer part would not fully connect. Had to use some grease to ensure it fitted.
It is heavy but well made. Went mad in the garden and filled 3 bins in very short time!

I found that when you first start it up you have to let it run a while or it will cut out, almost like fuel starvation. Also it didn't like the extension pole very much on pruner or the hedge trimmer. Possibly got a duff one but would be interested if anyone else has had similar experience.

Does anyone know what size chain you need on this? Cut a few trees down and chain is now blunt, can't see anything in the instructions.
    Cheers

I just down loaded the manual, it's

    Oregon 91P040X

I've got the electric 2 in 1 version and my pole prunner seems blunt after 12 or so cuts

I bought one yesterday, cut the hedge with the trimmer, the harness was in the way of the on/off button so I kept having to re start it. Changed to the strimmer, worked well until the strimmer wire broke, I undid the unit to get to pull out the cord and couldnt put it back together, it took at least 45 minutes, in the end I watched youtube (in Greek) which showed a man putting a simlar unit back together, when I got it back on the mahine, the engine wouldnt start, the cord would not pull, That was it! I took it back to lidl and got my money back, not really worth the hassle of replacing it so I got my money back, owned it for four hours spent three and a half hours swearing at it.

You do not buy a new chain when blunt you sharpen it, should last for ages. if you do need one search 3/8 LP (Picco) 0.050 1.3mm 40 DL Chainsaw Saw Chain.

Unit is robust enough for light to med work, bit of a pain when the extension pole attached , which you do as without it it is easier to use a normal saw, hedgecutter as the reach is not much more. It can be a little awkward with the extra pole as not very balanced so take care. No problem with the engine on mine started first time, most starting problems after running are down to people putting to much oil in the fuel as they think it is good to have a bit more, this just clogs everything up (spark plug , carb) and it will not start.

Just tried out the one I bought; not happy with the amount of vibration when using the strimmer attachment. After about five minutes use was unable to continue without a rest. vibration seamed to be coming from the motor end of the machine. Have not as yet tried the hedge cutter or pruner attachments but am considering returning the tool on those grounds.

I brought lidl's 4 in 1 strimmer 2 days ago and experienced similar problems as mentioned above.

On the 3 headed trimmer / strimmer the whole tool vigorously vibrates which is incredibly hard to hold onto. The vibration is so strong that it's hard to let go of the acceleration button to prevent it spinning at high speed. Also because it's so strong the on/off button is hard to reach as full effort is put into holding the strimmer.

Another issue I had with it was that it would vibrate so much that the on button kept moving forward on its own accord and therefore turned the engine off requiring it to be restarted again.

I have returned this product to Lidl as I don't believe it's safe as it appears faulty and should not be operating in this manner. Lidl have thankfully refunded me the money. I'm usually pretty impressed with lidl's products however this is not something which I would buy again from there

I googled that and it came up with a chain, if I wanted to sharpen the chain, what do I need? Is it difficult to sharpen a chain?

    Thanks

Not a difficult job but you need to buy a chain sharpening tool,i don,t use mine to often so rather than buying a sharpener i take the chain to my local ironmonger who do the sharpening for reasonable price.

Thanks for that. Do you have details on the chain sharpening tool please, maybe a link to one on the web.
How much do you pay to get it sharpened? I think a chain is @ £10

Lidl have a good one when its available HUK deal or Amazon should have something similar.
Can't remember the exact price though it was cheaper than a new chain.

Bought this machine the other day, weighs a ton, much heavier then my old machine . I work as a Handyman/Gardener, so was not looking for a high end machine .
    1. Weighs a ton, after a while you really feel like you have been put trough the ringer, arms ache, wrist, the worst thing is at high revs the engine vibrates terrible, its like a hammer action coming from the motor end .
    2. The hedge cutter attachment, is poorly designed, you really need to swing the cutter into the hedges to actually get it to cut anything.
After using it for half a hour, I felt like one of those cartoon characters, I was vibrating so much.
    3. The strimmer attachment, works well, very powerful, but the guard vibrates terrible on full revs, it nearly shakes your your guts out, afterwards you feel like you just gone five rounds with Mike Tyson in his prime.
    4. You need to wear thick leather gloves, as the vibration from this thing, will leave you with tingling hands and fingers afterwards, and in hot weather, its uncomfortable .
    5. You definitely need to wear ear protection.
It is well made, but in my humble opinion, poorly designed .
Not for me, I,m sending it back, will try a screw fix Titan Multi tool ?.

Managed to follow the instructions but they are a little scant on detail. Especially the fitting of the brush cutter, this is left to diagrams, not clear which part goes where without a close study. Also fitting the chain round the correct way and no information on how much to adjust it, unless I missed that instruction. Had a slight problem with starting. Filled with the 40 t0 1 mixture, primed the carburettor as instructed and it started on the third pull. However, it only ran for a few minutes and then died. I went through the same process and the same thing happened. Wondered whether the fuel tank needed to be full so added another measure jug of petrol; this appeared to solve the problem although if that is a problem what happens when you hold it aloft to cut high hedges or lop some branches. There is a considerable amount of vibration using the strimmer and it is very fierce. The hedge trimmer is brilliant, so far that is all I have used. I must admit I was a little surprised at the weight although once I had adjusted the harness correctly this took some of the weight and it handled quite well. Very powerful so overall satisfied with the product which is very well made. I will use it again but if the vibration is an issue with any of the other tools I will return it, I haven't used it with the extension pole yet. This will be important because I need to reach top of high hedges and some branches to lop.

to 6blewbury9 undo the nuts and bolts enough so they just move then the blades will move on the hedge cutter when you try it again

Bought this to cut hedges. It did a great job the first day but the following week it kept cutting out. It would start Ok but when I revved it up the engine would cut out immediately. I cleaned the spark plug and air filter to no avail. I even tried a new spark plug but no good. I returned the unit and got a full refund, no questions asked.

When it was working it was great but the badly placed on/off switch did keep flipping to the off position. I fixed this with a couple of rubber bands which gave enough resistance to keep the switch in the on position while working.
I am now looking for a replacement and hope that ALDI have something similar but better in the near future.

I bought one recently. Got it started; found the off switch kept slipping to the off position. I was also totally unable to move the choke in any way whatsoever, so much so that it isn't even clear which direction it should be moving in; there is absolutely no give in it, and it looks too delicate to stand any real force. Any ideas; just knowing which direction it travels in would help? I know it says "pull", but how hard am I allowed to pull once I get the pliers on it?

I bought one of these a few days ago. Started cutting my hedge with it today and it conked out a couple of times before seizing up altogether. The starter cord cannot be pulled at all. I followed all the instructions to the letter, measured the petrol and oil very precisely. It's very disappointing, Lidl normally sell such good quality tools. I think a 3 year warranty on such a poor product is a waste of time and a I intend to ask for my money back.

My wife and I are professional gardeners (not odd job people, gardeners) and we needed a tool that would enable us to strip, brush cut, hedge trim and prune the latter in orchards. The tool from Lidl seemed ideal, good price, 3 year warranty, powerful and adaptable, no brainer. The hedge trimmer, great. The strimmer did its stuff. The brush cutter rocked through an area of nettles and brambles like a good un. I did not get to use the pruner. The inclusion of a good strap, 2 stroke mixing bottle, tools and chain saw oil was great. As a hedge trimmer it tended to cut out if the fuel was not totally full when the machine was used on it's side. In general it was heavy to use but did the job well. Attachments were easy and straightforward to change. The sad problem was that halfway through a job it cut out, the start cord would not pull as if the engine had seized. I could not hear as I had ear defenders on, but my wife said it had started to 'clatter' as if something was loose just before it cut out. A shame but as Be2 above I popped down to Screwfix and got a Titan. Dearer, lighter, quieter, not as easy to swap attachments but hardly rocket science and not as powerful. Watch this space.

Hi any recommendations on the Screwfix Titan hedge trimmer and grass trimmer.
  32. deleted1519680's avatar
The strimmer works well. The hedge trimmer is OK, could do with a longer blade, I will be giving this attachment a major workout soon as we prepare an urban garden for a major improvement starting with an untidy 40 metre hedge.

Bought one. Worked ok for a year then the petrol hose inside the tank broke somehow. Returned it 3 weeks after 1 year warranty expired and Screwfix said they were not prepared to do anything. I should go fix it myself!! I was so angry I left it outside the shop. Most parts were still unused and in original wrap. Yes I was that angry. Call me silly, 'twas principle. Will never do Screwfix ever again thanks!

bought one, not happy with vibration, nothing in fault finding, does anyone have a fix? otherwise it's going back, it's possible I have connected it wrongly, so I'll have a go at sorting it, can only be bottom end I will post if I manage it.
