Funny. Actually trying to post deals instead of making little snide comments.
Whilst sometimes these can be USB 1.0 which I think it's not going so hot, these are ideal for charging all your gadgets via USB
Try to charge 4 gadgets with that and it'll burn out the gadget or your pc usb port...

Not really, if they're all sharing 500mA.
Whilst I often love these kind of poundland/world/shop deals, I would steer clear of cheap usb hubs and card readers - I've had them before and they've corrupted data on memory sticks. Lesson learnt!

Welcome to HUKD Zodiak.

The issue here is that this is not a deal. Since goodness-knows-when Poundshops have sold these hubs. They are, for want of a better phrase, "cheap and nasty". I've dabbled three or four times with hubs, card readers and iPod docks, and every time their lifetime has been less than a month, if they have even worked properly in the first place.

These are sold on the premise that no-one will ever take one back for a £1, and if they work for at least a short while people will just put it down to experience when they break.

I would advise against buying any of these sort of things... ultimately, although a remote possibility, you could do permanent damage to your £200-£300-£500-£1000 PC if one of these is suitably defective.

Branded and powered hubs can be got from most reputable online suppliers for a fiver or less.

This should be filed along with pound shop earphones and speakers - cheap tat that will not last if it even works properly in the first place.
Afraid I disagree with the above I have been using both Poundland Card reader and 4 way hubs for a least 5 years without any problem at all, the remote possibility that one of these could damage your PC is no greater than with any other usb device and I have never heard of any such damage being caused by any USB device.

Paying more for an item does not actually guarantee that it is better!
Be very weary of such items from such stores - this website george-smart.co.uk/wik…Hub examined such a hub and found it to be four sockets wired in parallel with a blob of resin to make it look like there was an IC on board when there was nothing. It certainly didn't work properly.
