I paid the £79 for a year of it (expired in November). After that year I'm happy to pay more for something better now.

I never had any issue with streaming (outside of phone signal issues) unlike others here. But the experience is not as good as any other music service I've used (Spotify, Deezer, Tidal to date).

If you check out an artist page on Amazon music they won't show you everything they have of that artist, only what's "popular". There's no EP section even if they do actually have the EPs, you have to search specifically for that EP, so if you don't know an EP exists, it may as well not on Amazon.

Music discovery is straight up bad. I've hardly discovered any new artists through Amazon Music because even after month's of listening "recommended" is always full of trash. One thing they like to do is take one artist you listened to recently and base 90% of your recommendations on that. So if you weren't in the mood for that particular genre, screw you I guess? Recommended tracks are almost always chocked full of songs from artists you already listen to, heavily weighted to the last artist you listened to a full album of. It's like they completely miss the point of recommending stuff.

Amazon also have this habit of changing the versions of albums they have on there and not updating your "library" to reflect the change. So if you save an album to your library and try and listen to it you'll find it greyed out and trying to play it will really in "no longer available on Amazon Music", but you search for that artist, that album is actually still there, but it's a different version and apparently that's too hard to swap over in a library. I found my playlists would start to "shrink" over time as individual songs would become "unavailable" which resulted in my searching for artists/albums to listen to rather than use playlists or the library because they were unreliable.

Oh lordy lord the notifications. Turn them off now. They are completely agnostic of your tastes and only exist to promote chart music or whatever generic playlists Amazon are touting. Absolute waste of time and space unless you specifically only listen to chart music.

Finally, on a technical note, if Amazon music doesn't have a connection it will sit on a blank screen with a spinning circle for upwards of a whole minute before it will let you choose something from your pre-downloaded collection to listen to. I had to get in the habit of starting music before I left the house, because if I left the house and tried to fire up Amazon music on the move, that couple of seconds where you have no connection between running out of WiFi range and data kicking in would result in that dreaded minute of app hanging.

By all means of you just want something cheap to listen to your favourites, go for it, but if you want to find new stuff, Amazon Music is straight up garbage.
Imo should be free with Prime
Now we wait for a trick to be able to get Prime Music Unlimited for 3 years, at the price of 1 month
I've been using premium music subs for nearly a year now. Total cost 99p. I've used this. Google. Tidal and Spotify. Spotify is by far the best. 2 of the other had issues actually playing the music. Spotify just works

You’re joking, I didn’t know that
All the music services are doing cheap deals at the moment!
This is a really good price!

Prepare though - the app is clunky and you cannot import any playlists! (The process of creating them on Amazon Music is a bit laborious)

If you just use it for their curated playlists or dont mind the extra work creating your own for a really good price then this is brilliant for anyone who hasn't used it before
Got 90 days , for nothing
Using the windows app. I hear a stutter fairly regularly (maybe hourly) yet I have never had a single one on Spotify.

You could see it as 3 months free and an extra month for 99p. Which is better than just 3 months free followed by usual price.
Cold I got an Echo for this much;)

its some existing customers also, i got a card through the mail offering me this as a prime customer.
I got this but the bloody stream keeps buffering for a few seconds on Windows desktop.

It makes the ads on free Spotify seem preferable so I've gone back to that.

Same happens on Amazon Fire stick.
I’ve set a reminder to cancel a few weeks before the free period ends
You do the math
Mine come up at £7.99 but not used before

Free Spotify annoys me. I ask it to play an artist or a soundtrack...it mixes it in with songs like those asked for. With limited skips an hour, I rarely hear what I want to hear.

Maybe says more about your tech than the app?

I doubt it. I'm on a gigabit connection with a 2k work laptop. It shouldn't be difficult to download the song in advance instead of streaming it without a buffer.
For some bizarre reason my Amazon Music account had upped and left the UK and settled in the US, after 10 minutes of giving it a telling it off and dragging it home I managed to sign up!
Amazing

I had this recently on the 7.99 echo dot plus one month subscription deal. How do I take a punt for 99p, please.
My car stereo doesn't always pick it up automatically, but maybe it's the stereo, and not Amazon music is the problem
Absolutely horrific GUI - they could learn a lot from Spotify.

I had this on the last offer. Thought it was very good but did notice a lot of classic albums were always remastered but sometimes that is a good thing. Also the tracks held on their library differed to those on Spotify. Good though and no quality issues on my Yamaha streamer. However if anyone uses MusicCast, it won't stream Amazon like it does Spotify, Tidal etc. only via Bluetooth which defeats the point of a streamer unless they have now implementation as they promised months ago.

Think I caN beat that, had my Sonos speakers at least 4 years and have managed to duck and dive various free Or almost free premium subs pretty much the whole time!
Had it for a month, but found it was so poor compared to Spotify.

Play lists are a massive part of music discovery and the Amazon ones all seem curated by themselves.

Searching for a genre like "Retrowave" yields nothing of use, searching for "Vice City", also nothing.

Artists song play count was absent too, I had no idea if a song/artist was popular or not. If its a new artist I will listen to their most popular song first.

Even the Music HD was over rated really.

Yea, it's ok, but seriously not worth the money at full price..
Shame it's not the Music HD service on offer although i do think the SQ is worse than Qobuz or Tidal but who's would argue for 99p?

This is no different to Qobuz or other music streaming services (maybe not all). This is due to streaming rights & the company not continuing to pay for the right to stream. Often the case as you have found they have switched to paying for an alternate stream. Same song/artist but a different recording.

I think you can use Chromecast with Amazon music nowadays. Just wish Amazon would reciprocate and allow Google music as an option on their Alexa's.

oddly, I quite like it although it could be improved upon.
What I do like, any music you have purchased on Amazon is automatically downloaded to the app. But unfortunately if you have purchased a fair amount it does rather fill up your playlist.
