Full of festive cheer aren't you?

One on its own, yes totally agree, not very bright, but 4/5 downlights with 5w GU10 LED's is ample for most situations, couple of wall lights with 5w LED candles is perfect for creating an ambient light....

9w would be a lot better.

For ambient only. Yes. 5w would be great but ambient is hardly practical for most situations
Has anyone used these? I have some 3.6w (3-light fittings) and they seem more than adequate, so I assume that 5w would definitely be bright enough, are they a good brand?
Be aware these are "Daylight white" according to the pictures.Its OK for kitchens and utility areas and slightly less harsh than cool white..
In your lounge where you really want warm white which is a softer shade of white.

With LED bulbs the type of white is important:
