4 star / 2 night break in Venice including flights from £99 pp or 3 nights from £149 pp @ Wowcher

Found 18th May
I've always fancied going to Venice and this seems like a fab price considering it includes flights and a 4 star hotel on dates until 19th October this year so the weather will still be a lot warmer than it will be here!

You can just choose the date from the calendar which shows the price per person on your selected date. The prices are based on 2 sharing so you need to make sure you buy 2 so it covers you both.

There are a few dates in June for £139 pp for 2 nights which means that the kids won't be on summer break yet so you should get the best of the weather and some peace to explore the city. Might be a nice idea for wedding anniversary and if you are feeling extra specially romantic, you even have the option of adding a serenaded gondola ride for £36.46 pp and no before you ask - they will NOT be singing just one cornetto to you!

Flights depart from your choice of Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester airports and the hotels are all 4 star rated either Smart Hotel Holiday, Quality Hotel Delfino Venezia Mestre or Hotel Ambasciatori.
You will get a guaranteed 40 hours in Venice for the 2 night option and a guaranteed 60 hours with the 3 night option and prices include hand luggage only and its all ATOL protected as well

Spent a full day in venice recently. My thoughts:

Hideously overcrowded
Very expensive
Canals smell like sewers
Swarms of annoying pigeons roaming in St. Marks Square
Gondola rides are 80 euro for 30mins fixed prices with no haggling

IMO, the whole experience was a little undewhelming.

Suspect you can negotiate a better gondola deal on the day but bear in mind they usually do a quick ride then offer another 30 mins for more money. You probably also have to make your own way to / from the hotel / airport. Bear in mind the places are old so hotels may not be up to the normal 4 star joints but for the money it is OK and certainly should be on everyone’s bucket list

You obviously stuck to the main tourist areas and didn't explore the back streets.

Interesting as I intended to make a visit one day
I've never gone for these Groupon style deals - is it worth the savings or is it better just to book things yourself and pay a bit extra for your own choosings?

Most of that is true sadly, well all of it, but don't be put off. Best thing to do is 'get lost'. So many lovely little quiet backstreets, and cheaper, use the vaporetto to see it by water.

Never been smelly when I have been there... you need to explore Venice more, 1 day is not enough... best times are in the morning and evening when its quiet. Plenty of cheap places to eat too - you just need to know where.
One thing about this offer, the Hotels are in Mestre which is outside of Venice, not far away... only 10 mins by Bus.

But its really nice to be in Venice late at night or early in the morning.... saying that the buses do run just after midnight I think.
Also its nice to be able to return to your hotel while you are in Venice.... the only problem with Venice hotels is they tend to vary a lot in quality and price. So in Mestre you will probably get a bigger room of a more consistent quality. There are still some great hotels in Venice.... if you can find one they are a better option.
Hotels are in Mestre, it is worth staying in Venice itself.

Smell depends on the time of the year, so does crowdedness - and as somebody mentioned crowdedness also depends on the time of the day. Venice is quiet and peaceful later in the evening (probably because so many tourists stay in Mestre...), arguably the best time to enjoy San Marco.

Fancy sharing then !
We went August two years ago.
Wasn't too crowded.
Hotel splendid was excellent..
Did an evening gondola trip.
Had about 3 days and really enjoyed it.
Hotel window opened 1st floor onto canal and no smells.
Had a meal at a top hotel restaurant, with table right next to canal.
Loved Venice.
Love Italy.
Highly recommended.

Hotel Filù
Is a nice little up to date hotel.

Places to eat ( copy pasted from a previous post I made):

Its not too bad if you don't eat in St Marks square, there are also plenty of take away pasta places that are very reasonable. Also grab some snacks and stuff from the Spar!

Dal Moro's Fresh Pasta To Go (just off St Marks)

Pasta&Sugo (near Campo San Barnaba, as featured in Indiana Jones) - has happy hour with pasta + prosecco for 5 euros

Handy (around the Jewish Ghetto) for Gelato

McDonalds also in the north right of the Ghetto... get some fries and a cheap beer

If you go to Murano there is a tiny little sandwich shop that makes amazing toasted sandwiches, no idea of the name but its at
87 Fondamenta Manin

You can buy 1ltr of Moretti Beer from a convenience store near Handy, for 1 euro!!
So Venice can be cheap!
bargin....back from Venice 3 weeks now, loved it. Beautiful city, odd smell of sewers (nothing major), lots of people (what city isnt full of people), hardly any pigeons in St Marks Sq. Gondola ride was beautiful, lots asking to share cost/ride so options available. We loved it
