Got the Uniroyal tyres last time ebay had the code offer. Excellent tyres in wet condition. However these tyres are quite soft so they will wear quicker than other tyres. But for the extra safety grip in wet British weather, you can't really complain.

I never get tired of Chanchi deals

Ta.
Anything for 245 40 18, hard to search one that are on offer.
Whoop whoop maybe I will be able to buy 2 or 4 tyres for my Tucson! Heat added
Wow, good price. I just fitted slightly smaller (205/45 x 17) Dunlops to my MX5 and all premium brands were the wrong side £100 a corner (albeit fitted price).
I got the Falken Azensis FK510 for 174.48 on the last 20% offer. Not sure if these are still available but great tyres and a bit more hard wearing than the uniroyals. Was hoping for the new rainsport 5 but none available in this size

Just to confirm - the Falkens are available at this price and A rated for wet grip, same as the Uniroyal Rainsport.

Which tyres did you order in 205 55 16? i'm after the same?

ATS are doing Avon ZV7 £171.96 including fitting with the £50 off.

Is it worth getting the Uniroyal's from Demon Tweeks? £149 and then adding approx 5 + 10 quid per tyre to install / balance?
If you need tyres urgently, give them a ring the next day after ordering. Bought 4 X Toyo's in a similar deal 2 weeks ago, rang after 2 days to get a tracking number just to be told they weren't in stock and would be arriving in about 10 days but I wouldn't have known if I didn't call.

They swapped them for Falken's and honoured the same price though and shipped same day.

I went for the Toyo TR1's. Had a couple of sets of the older T1R's in the past and they were good for the cost.

Personally I wouldn't touch Avons, Uniroyal are far better in my opinion.

You better off getting the ATS deal as it cost at least £10 per tyre fitted/balance. Also 5% cashback.
SJ0104/12/2019 22:00

Thank you Gavin! Now to compare these two...

Personally of the two I would spend the extra (£6 per tyre) and get the Falkens.

Uniroyals are rated good especially in the wet,,maybe better than avons but avons ive heard good stuff said about them, good wear rates and good in the wet.

I initially like the Toyo's, the cost to (and those classic thread pattern) but have read few users on forums say they wear quick and in the wet they are 50 - 50..

Thank you both.
Damn good tyres for the wet. Recommended.
Great price. Heat

Also a fan of the Falkens. Got these on at the moment. Both these and the uniroyal are very good for wet grip. I'd say the falkens have less tyre roar. Hard to say as experience is a few years apart.

Had top spec Avons fitted to my A5 quattro when I had it. Decent tyres, way better than the Bridgestone that had been on there. Think that Avon were standard spec on TVRs
Which one is the best for audi a3 saloon?

Hi sorry to bother you. I see you have the a5 and I was wondering what are the best tire deals for the A3 saloon? I assume the tires for the a5 and a3 are similar? I honestly don't know which one to buy. Are there other better deals? Thank you
I'd never use these tyres again, they give great grip in the wet but found them very unstable. The side wall is so flimsy even on extra load wall it just felt like I had a puncture, scary when driving at speed. They are far from sporty.
For all those asking about specific cars /tyre sizes,
There's a website called tyre reviews which you can filter by car etc.

I have been using Uniroyal for 3 years now trying to convince myself they provide extra safety in wet for me and my family and I am yet to be proven they are better than any other brand:)
I have them on Ford Smax 2.5T (290 bhp and no traction control) and Seat Leon FR TDI (210 bhp with traction control). They spin as easily in the wet as any other brand:)
I genuinely don’t see any more grip that any other brand I have had:/ Maybe I expect too much of them? I can’t even say I have more confidence tackling bends as I can feel tyre deforming and giving in in the wet as much as next brand...
I probably drive crap cars:)

Or simply got used to Uniroyals grip and can’t remember how other tire handles in the wet?

Maybe it makes difference on something like BMW M car with properly sorted suspension?:)
What are your experiences and on what car do you drive?

What tyres would you recommend as a non soft ones? Most propably I need to buy two because every week I need to pump one on the back. Even yesterday I went for MOT and they said everything is fine, hmm

Same here just ordered 2 dunlop f1 for my mx5 . There's never a cheap deal on these except if you have Avon tyres which I didn't risk. All ways had the Bridgestone up to now so be interesting to see.

Avon tyres are better than all bar the Uniroyals posted here!

Which one is the best for audi a3 saloon?

I have these on all four wheels on mine, best tyres I've owned and used them on previous cars before aswell. The wear rate is fair, I replaced all four nearly two years ago come Feb 2020, fronts are down to 4.1 rears are as expected a decent 6 still based on around 12k miles a year personally.

But the brand new Uniroyal Rainsport 5's that only came out a couple of months ago have more longevity, quote "Continental who make Uniroyal report a 15% better tread wear on a RainSport5 compared to a RainSport3" - so will be buying them when needs be next time round. Strangely they're currently cheaper aswell

example:
2 x Uniroyal RainSport 5 Performance Road Car Tyres - 225 40 R18 92Y XL
£107 using demontweeks partytime on ebay which is really good
(£20 more for the rainsport 3's)
Edited by: "ryansonic" 5th Dec 2019
anyone know how much it costs for tyre fitting ?
They have 235 35 19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, ebay.co.uk/itm…958 which with the discount go down to £126 a corner - thats an awesome price for that tyre and size! 2 ordered (already got 2 in the garage), as all 4 of mine need changing in next few thousand miles.

I'd have to agree, the falkens are quieter. Both great tyres tho for the British weather. Cant wait to try the Rainsport 5 with the more hard wearing compound

I would have to agree that the steering is not as precise at speed using the rainsport. I did try the XL version but even so it was still soft. I could forgive this as my commute is mainly motorway and towards manchester so plenty of rain and surface water that the rainsports excel in.
The wear rate however put me off buying them again, hence giving the Falkens a try
Thanks for this
What makes a tyre good in the wet.....

Tread pattern ? Compound or both...?

They're just overrated tyres imho. I had them on a audi a3 a few years ago I would never put them on any of my cars again. Tyre wear is stupid on them too due to being a soft compound.

Falkens are a good shout. There are alot of decent budget tyres to be had but these are not one of them imho
