The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is a high performance tyre, developed with input from BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche. Michelin have designed the Pilot Sport 4 tyre with dynamic response technology - their use of Aramid and Nylon in the makeup of the tyre helps to ensure that the tyre is continually conforming to the contours of the road, delivering the best traction available for the conditions. The tyre's tread compounds has been derived from Michelin's extensive experience in key motorsport events - such as Formula E and World Rally Championship. The Pilot Sport 4 has a tyre compound featuring a unique blend of elastomers and hydrophobic Silica which helps the tyre to remain flexible - delivering excellent wet grip and reliable braking performances. The tyre's wide longitudinal grooves work to disperse surface water from the road surface, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.

Note that these are PS4 and not the very highly rated PS4S

These 'normal' PS4s are still basically one of the top rated tyres, not least because this is a size PS4S isn't available in. At least in Europe. The 18 inch sizes are in the USA.

This is a very common size, it's still strange Michelin won't bring us the 'S' for this size.
Costco has better promotions than this, just wait for them

These are great, but wear a bit quick. Got the 17s on a Clio 200.
That's a very good deal for 4 x ps4's!!
Superb tyre and great price. No brainer if they are the size you are after...
Not a bad price for michys
this summer ? Or crossclimate plus ?
Very soft sidewall these have,
fitting cost to be added in?

Sorry I wasn't trying to say the PS4 isn't a good tyre because it is still very good. The PS4S is the sportier version of the PS4 with a stiffer construction and slightly different compound. I use them on my 911 and they have been fantastic

Annoyingly they sell the PS4S in 18" in the USA and some of Europe, and I've even heard of some people that have gone as far as importing a set (seems a bit extreme to me given the cost for import tbh). Not sure why we don't get them over here though it's bizarre, maybe some kind of regulation I suppose.

Almost certainly some sort of certification most likely, cost versus potential profit no doubt.

Importing a set of them seems rather frivolous. Yes they are good but it's not like they are leagues ahead of the standard PS4 that you'll notice much on road driving, and if you track it you have better options for that specifically.

Not to mention tyre tech moves so quickly within 18 months I imagine something better will have come along and surpassed it anyway- PS5, Asymmetric 6 or whatever.
Good price for amazing tyres. I run these on both our cars and they don’t skip a beat even running 500nm through the rears.

To quantify how good the PS4 is, I was running the MPSS as OEM tyres on my M240 which are very similar to the PS4-S in terms of performance tyres.

MPSS were great on a warm summer day in the dry, but in the wet they could be dangerous.

The PS4 is just as good in the dry, but in the wet it's night and day - I have no traction issues in the wet/winter months that I had on the MPSS so it's a win all round for me. And they are slightly softer int eh sidewall so less road noise and more comfy than the MPSS but with no loss of traction.

I have them on my Audi A4.
Done 20k.
Still have 75% tread left on back and 35% on front ones, front wheel drive car. These are according to Audi when car went in for service last week.
I have swapped them around, back wheels to front.
Should last another 20k.
Excellent price. Was quoted £140 a tyre by Audi.

Is that normal driving or 200+ bhp of fun. What they like in the wet and how often do you need to change. Debating between these or rainsporte
For anyone saying these are good but no PS4S and it's a shame they don't do PS4S in 18".... solution is very simple: Buy Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports. Can be had for under £100 a tyre (fitted). Stiffer sidewall than PS4.
jaddy12/02/2020 12:49

No they dont

The PS4S has a E fuel rating, the PS4 has C. I run PS4 on my audi and they are absolutely spot on and have lasted 8months which is over twice as long as previous tyres have had (I do alot of miles) also the grip is perfect.
Great tyres, solid in the wet.

PS4S are not available in 18-inch.
Run these (although 235/40/18 versions) on my Megane RS. Highly rate them. Mine have done a mix of motorway miles and spirited back road driving and have a good bit of tread left after 17k miles.
goodnightalchemy14/02/2020 01:23

No they dont

well then they must have made extra special ones just for me, or maybe they made nice firm ones just for you. Fact is my car is way harsher over the same bridge joint than my proxies that was fitted before,

Not normal driving! Great in the wet, unparalleled grip in my humble opinion. I had Uniroyals on a Cooper S before and found them lacking compared to these.

Nice. Got 20 off 2 (in a different size). Amazing the price difference between 6 months ago and now for the same tyres too!
