had a Tecknica 42" a couple of year now (HD M&S DEAL), sound is crap but everything else is more than adequate, got a logitec 2.1 speaker system to sort the audio out, great value.... 25yr ago when we moved into our home, we bought a 2nd hand TV (from a shop) it was a 20" CRT and it cost £125, so yes... a positive bargain!

My Technika TV is great, my mate's is a Toshiba and hers is terrible so it's not a bad make to have. Great Deal as that's the price i paid for the 32 inch 1 year ago

Very very close to buying this TV. Looks great for the dollar. Negative reviews all seem to only be about sound quality. This may finally end my obsession with finding the right telly, which has gone on way too long and become boring, quite like this post that I am posting right now........ Yep still going..... sorry

The 39' LCD version is only £20 more.

tesco.com/dir…462

Can anyone tell the difference and is the £20 worth it?

Has it got any warranty?

Why would you want to pay £20 more for a smaller TV that uses older backlighting technology?

Add code TDX-PKMW on a new account to get £10 off to make this £187, plus cashback on TCB and quidco. Hot deal

Not worth the difference, the LCD is the fat brother with older technology as not as enegy efficient.....plus the extra inch, lol.

CCFL is actually better, LED is just cheaper to manufacture, marketing nonsense and lower picture quality, though one thing in it's favour it does use less electricity.

It will have a year as standard, but it has options for extra warranty down the right hand side

What a deal! Was considering buying this at £250 mark. Had £9 in clubcard vouchers, plus 3.5% Quidco cashback, so even better!

Many good reviews, poor reviews tend to be about the sound quality which is a problem with most tv's anyway imo and a seperate sound source is often preferred.

Is it worth it, only you can decide that one but compared to what is available and if you are not brand conscious too much it looks a winner to me.

to be honest voting cold on this one, have you seen the reviews on the Tesco site from people who own this tv saying the picture quality is not very good - its hdmi and full hd so why is the picture quality so bad, this sort of thing should be guaranteed to have a quality picture at 1080p.

Bought this TV in store when they had it on offer at same price minus a tenner off spend over £100
Sound is usable but I just switch to surround sound for anything worth listening to.
Only other niggle is takes a minute or so to start responding properly to the remote. Not a major for me though as can change channels on sky and sound through surround if I'm desparate.
For under £200 I was delighted.

The reviews look pretty mixed to me !! Quite a lot saying sound quality poor..but most people will have surround or 2.1 systems anyway.

That is debatable depending on whether the LED for screen lighting is either edge lit or backlit, if fully backlit it is more even and provides better contrast than CCFL.

Anyone know if this price is in store also??? as for led vs ccfl Led is the way to go as they are far more efficent and should last much longer than a calf tube which can also lose brightness over time. If you just want a basic 1080p TV then its a bargain, if you want to start comparing it to Sony tv's etc then you should not bother, I'm sure at the end of the day you would be annoyed if you paid £600 for a Sony only to find out this is just as good, I'm sure you would still like to know you generally get what you pay for.
At the end of the day this is 40 inches of reasonable display quality and led technology for under £200 pounds, make a great tv for the bedroom etc, unless you have 50/50 vision I would not worry to much about super perfect resolution......

I have low energy consumption anyway so if I'm getting a better picture I really don't mind it consuming more, even if that costs me more in the long run.

For the sake of £20 upfront I want the best picture possible, LED or LCD?

This looks a very good deal for what it is. The sound problems can easily be worked around. Voted hot.

Used to work in the electrical department for tesco, aweful tv's. You get what you pay for, id scope out the other deals to be honest never buy own brand electricals you'l just be dissapointed.

If you didnt know, tesco owns technika... fyi

Got this 40" Tecknika last Christmas for £165. Great picture, mediocre sound. Billy bargain.

They are a company operating out of slovakia, they use various panels on their tvs. This could easily be an lg or samsung panel but I wont be taking the chance as tempting as it might be, plus im after a youtube app.The picture in the post isnt the tv on sale I dont think as on the website the bezel is thicker around the screen.

The problem with relabled TVs like this one is that they can differ a lot. Depending on the supply, you may get a completely different TV under the same name and type code. So it can be a bit of a gamble.

Shame there is no DVD built in. Looking for an affordable 40 inch (odd) with that in it.

Also nicer looking TV's due to thinner bezels, and reduced depth.

Want to get rid of the one we have now, bulky, old, saves space.

Depth makes no difference unless hung on the wall, all stands are deeper than the TV, I do agree about the bezel though

I'd take a CCFL backlit over a LED edge lit, I am yet to see one with perfect backlighting and uniformity, all I personally have experience with have bleed of some description. I did have a LG Full Backlight LED which was excellent, but you don't seem to see many full backlit LED TV's now for some reason? I will go hide as I have a Plasma anyway lol

I personally also would prefer CCFL backlit over LED edge lit, and in fact have just that when I could have for the same price got an edge lit LED...the tv is thin enough and provides an excellent picture (Samsung LE40D550), unfortunately due to cost most LED lit LCD TVs are only edge lit.

We have the 40 inch LCD and the back light bleed is something to behold in dark scenes, much worse than the cheapo blaupunkt 32 we also have - can't comment on the speakers as we have it playing through the stereo. Only good thing about these cheap TVs is they make our nearly 5 year old sharp 46 inch still look good value for money.

Ordered for business use thanks OP

Hmmmm might get for bedroom not fussed about quality in SD as long as it looks ok from 15ft away
