40% off All Computing Hardware @ PCWorld/Currys Clearance (Chester Greyhound Retail Park)

As the title says, 40% off the marked price of ALL computing hardware including laptops, netbooks and desktops at the PCWorld/Currys Clearance store on the Greyhound Retail Park in Chester.

As you'd expect from a clearance store, they sell returned/refurbed/ex-display stock. The prices are already reduced to begin with from new prices, but they're currently offering a further 40% off the price on display.

I'm afraid I didn't note down any specifics, but I had a look at the laptops and they had plenty of Advent, Toshiba, Dell, Acer, Asus and Compaq models, amongst others, ranging from around £300 BEFORE discount, so £180 at it's cheapest.

Netbooks started around £199 before discount. I do actually remember one model in particular that they had- the Samsung N150 (I only noticed this as I bought one at Christmas from John Lewis for around £200 and was curious how much they were selling them for) which was £209.99, so £126!

I'm not really in it for the heat or I'd have noted down some models and prices. I'm just hoping this might be of interest to someone.

Oh, and before anyone asks- no Macs:-(

I guess this explains the reason this post is getting cold, as with iFreaks, if any deal don't include the Magicaly 'i' then suddenly its a bad deal ..

Same at the Chesterfield store 40% off list prices. Some examples are:- Advent Sienna 710 i7 Core £281.98 from £469.97, Advent E100 13" £143.98 from £239.97, Advent E200 13" £161.98 from £269.97, Advent Modena 100 £173.98 from £289.97, Advent Modena M200 £179.98 from £299.97, Emachine Sorrento £167.98, Emachine E640 £203.98

I only looked at Clearance models rather than Used models. They all come with 12 months warranty.

I am quite tempted as my laptop keeps shutting down, even after re-installing Windows.

Bought a Samsung laptop from there on Monday - looked good condition, but problems galore. I've even registered it with Samsung UK who have tried (by e-mail and phone) to fix the issues. Conclusion from Samsung - TAKE IT BACK. Lots of hassle to be honest.

As I said in the post, I'm not in it for the heat, but would have been nice for it to get hotter only to have it show on the front page so more people might benefit from it. I think this is a good deal, especially seeing as the 20% off at the online store did well. I guess it's maybe because it's limited by location.

It was posted twice accidentaly as my BB connection kept cutting out. I reported it and the repost was deleted withing about 5 minutes of it going up. Did it go up more than twice? Only showing in my post history as once.

I bought a refurbished netbook from PC World 2 months ago. Didn't work so we sent it back and I'm still waiting for my bloody refund.

First and last time I'll ever buy a machine from them, always had PC World pegged as trouble.

Don't get me wrong its an alright deal but it will of got cold because it seemed to post 3 times.

Hmm, I'm not sure I agree as within 10 minutes of posting, the double post was deleted at my request so 99% of people who find the deal would have no way of being aware I made a mistake.

Anyhoo, never mind.

BUT - thanks for trying, us lot, always looking for a bargain.

This is a big conn they have upped the prices and then reduced them by 40%!! Furthermore they have learnt a new trick, what they do no is advertise fake 'auction'. The auctions are a waste of time and fake because they have their own staff sheild bidding ( they are wearing the uniform when they are doing it, thats how i know). You will find that in these 'auctions' the products 80% of the time do not sell because they have unrealistic reserves. I went to the merryhill store today and it was a farse, I would NOT waste your time going.
