Basically Currys are offering £40 off all iPad air and air2 models when you enter the code AIR40 in the online checkout. They will price match in store as a promotional discount if you raise this with them.

The price listed is for the 16gb iPad Air just as a reference but also since thats the one I would likely go for as best value for money

Also up to 20% Quidco cash-back
- MP18

'up to': 1% Cashback for iPads via Quidco.

It's because of the brand. Exactly what is up with this site's voting.

why cold?

Heat added, good price.

Its pointless though, whats the point having a deals website where people vote based on brand etc.

From a voting perspective, yes, it's a hot deal, you're saving 40 quid.

I just think people are over the iPads because they're overpriced. Every year an upgrade, with a fee on top - look at the iPads mini. It had touchid as an upgrade last year to mini3 and that was it.

IPads are overpriced.

I've tried every model of tablet going, blackberry, android and iPad, and wished I'd saved myself the **** ache and just got an iPad from the off!! Use mine so much now, and even decided to get my mum one!!

Because it's not that good a deal, better around.

Cold - They're the same price on Tesco (straight price rather than a voucher code) and are in club card boost

But how can you compare club card boost that's a voucher, not a deal!

"with a fee on top"? Not sure what you mean, they always bring in a new device for the same cost as the previous gen model, and move the now year old model to the lower price point.

I agree the mini 3 was a joke of an upgrade, but you probably shouldn't upgrade every year (in my opinion), upgrade every two years I would say (or less) - that's why iPad sales have saturated, they are not upgraded as much as iPhones.

I also think the iPad Air 2 was a great update from Air 1 - there are even rumours circulating they may not bring out an Air 3 as the Air 2 is still a very high spec (I'm sure there will be a new model though).

Tempted. My ipad 3 is getting slow now, still works fine after around 3 years and getting thrown around. They certainly are tough little things.

Not being flippant as I'm only just looking into getting one and all information is welcome.

Could you point us in the direction of a better deal? It would be much appreciated!

Just curious what people you're referring to? The people that make the iPad the best selling tablet in the world? Or the people that consistently vote it top of the tablet charts in UK reviews? A quick search for 'Best tablets of 2015" will reveal all, but I'm sure you know what will be No. 1 already...

High levels of usability and build quality are what these people want, and they're clearly prepared to pay more than the competition to have that.

It works out cheaper from Argos as its same price plus you get £10 Gift voucher.

I wouldn't normally recommend ebay for electrical goods but I was in the market for an iPad air2 cellular (16gb) and found one for £330 delivered (brand new & sealed) - buyer let me check serial number beforehand and confirmed with apple just over 9 months warranty remaining.

Delivered recorded and the wife is chuffed He had about 4 for sale at the time.

I'm as far from an Apple 'fanboy' as you'll get - however having had a few Android tablets the combination of build quality, style and usability the iPad still comes out on top for me. However, I am hoping the new Sony Z4 tablet will change that, just waiting to get my hands on one before I commit to buying it.

Did you try the Hudl 2?

lianne21

Did you try the Hudl 2?

I don't think you can quite compare the iPad and a Hudl 2 - one is a premium product and the other is a 'budget' tablet. Note, that I do think the Hudl is fantastic value for money, however it's not really comparable.

If you want an iPad Air 2 I would wait a few weeks as the iPad Air 3 is due out in October. After the 3 comes out better deals will be around.

I've got an iPad 4 retina 128Gb LTE - and just got a Z4 (off E Bay brand new LTE locked to O2 - £100 below list!). It's great and I'll be selling the iPad - the Z4 is so light. I've also got a Z3 Compact tablet which is also great and also from E Bay. The Sony website purchasing is dreadful - it's outsourced to a Dutch company Moduslink - customer service isn't a phrase they are familiar with. So the Z4 tablet is fab - just don't buy it via the Xperia website would be my recommendation.

How much did you pay for it on ebay? Did it come with the keyboard? I've seen it for £499.99 on Amazon.

Hmmm my brother had a go on my Hudl and preferred it to his ipad. I've also read many reviews from folks saying they prefer it to their ipad. I choose to buy a Hudl not because it's cheaper but because I would only pay half the cost of an iPad.

Wait til the new Ipad is launched October time if you can. The prices on the air and air2 will most likely come down abit on this price

I paid £479 for it - it's the LTE version which lists at £579 - including keyboard. It was from 02 originally.

You've lost me? I would buy an iPad if it was half the price it currently is as to me that's all its worth. Does that explain it better. If an iPad is a 'premium' product why does my brother and others in all the reviews I read, prefer the Hudl?

If I'm gonna buy an overpriced tablet I'll spend my money on a Surface 3!

No love for Windows tablets in here? Actually thinking of trying one after sticking with Android all this time.. tbh the Android tablet scene is pretty poor compared to the phone ecosystem if you ask me

As an android owner of a nexus 9, and z3 compact phone (previously HTC one), when it comes to tablets my daughters Air 2 and my sons iPad 4 are so much better for proper tablet apps. Facebook, twitter, all sky apps to name a few are far superior on ipads- no question.

Though £279 for an air 1, is expensive, when I got a brand new air 2 off ebay delivered for £230 6 months ago.

Can people stop telling us porkies about good iPad deals on ebay?

So you are saying if the iPad was half price you would buy that over the Hudl 2 (which would still be cheaper) yet you still prefer the Hudl 2? You're not making any sense... And 'all' the reviews? Don't be delusional.

I will reiterate, there is nothing wrong with the Hudl 2 but it is not comparable to either a top end Android, Windows OR iPad.

Guess now we're off for another ipad vs android debate. Well after owning an iPad air for a few days n Asus transformers for many years, I'd prefer ipad air for my study purpose with their many polished apps. But I'd still go with android for phones to get those quick access widgets

Same here, only ever had Android phones since the very first G1 - however their Tablets have yet to impress me with the exception of the first Nexus 7.
