TV model is about 6 years old and must be used. Most newer TV's are much slimmer with smaller bezels and better picture. Do not buy this

Obviously used/return or whatever but picture of non budget 5 year old tv is still far better than budget tv purchased down argos last tuesday.

What a silly site, no info. Is this an led?

Great find Loydinio this looks like ok place to shop - Good Find - Thanks to you

Not 100% bit I think it's led backlit

Excellent price for this. Had it before our current one and it's a solid unit. Well worth it at this price (even for the bedroom!).

No, it's LCD.

I've had this set for 4 years and it still holds up, not quite as vibrant as current models and there is a bit of gaming lag if you have a console. but then at £149 this is great value (I paid £559 back in 2011).

If it is the model in the picture it looks like a Sony 40EX401 from 2010. Unless they offer a decent warranty on it I wouldn't bother; its probably on it's last legs, especially if it is ex-demo and has been playing 8 hours a day.

If you want to check how long the TV has been running for: Using the remote turn the TV off, press "Display", "5", "volume -", then "power". wait a few seconds and it will display a set of numbers at the bottom of the screen (xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx).
The first number is the total "on" time (I think this includes standby), number 2 is how many times the TV has been turned on, and number 3 is how many hours the TV panel has been on for.

if u look in the menu list on the main page its got links to go to refurb items and ex display....i got an ex display and never had problem and you get the same warranty as you would brand new.definatly a bargain.

if u look on the side menu on main page it has links to take you to refurb or ex dislpay listings..and seperate links for all other deals.i got x display tv and have not had a problem with it..plus you get all the warrenty and cover as u would if it was brand new

Not LED but great picture, and MUCH better sound than any modern TV. From the days when there was enough space to fit decent speakers in them. I have the 37 inch version in the bedroom.

^this is just nonsense. If you want a TV you will have to enter the market at some point. With this philosophy you will never buy any piece of technology.
Its £150 for a 40 inch Sony, I can't see many downsides.

Works well with Xbox one?

Where were you during black Friday? Everyone with half a brain bought a tv at a stupidly low price back then- this is a used/ ex display plus old tech. If you're going to try to be a bargain hunter use your brain

They only had one,and this was sold 1 minute before it was advertised.............unless you know better.

The older sony sets much better built than most, if not all the current budget-built-with-cheapest-components set. Theyre like the mercedes of the 80's. Buy it on credit card, if it blows up in 2 years, argue under soga for a repair/replacement. Amex is really good for this.

Also older sonys are excellent for gaming - input lag amongst the lowest of any tv, and far better than plasmas

Heat added!!!

So refreshing to see a post with genuinely useful information and expertise. Well done and thank you. HDUK used to, many years ago, get a lot more of this type of stuff..

probably not worth it unless your desperate for a tv..

My Sony genuine original Sony 40EX401 remote does not have 'Display 'on any key. So which key should I be pressing?
