Seems like a good price for a 42 inch LG TV with free delivery. The only other place I can find them under £300 is at Hughes Direct for £299. It looks like Tribal Uk may be part of Hughes Direct as they both have the same contact address.

Heat added. Same price on their Amazon page. Also £299 with Hughes Direct there as well...

Hughes owns Tribal so often same prices

I wish I could get some information on the display lag for this thing. Impossible to find anything.

On currys website it says this is 50 Hz motion rate. That's bad for gaming right?

It's 100Hz by LGs scale via it's Triple Engine, it's fine for casual-mid range gaming. High end gaming, get a large PC monitor..

Oh heat added. Great quality tv and it's under 10Kg so nice and light for wall mounting

This or the 40" Sony at £285?

This or the 40" Sony at £285?

This. LG or Samsung are the TVs to buy really.

Just got this tv for £284.04 using the link provided. The website doesn't seem to like IE so used Chrome as a browser and the payment went through ok... Only negative so far... Is the free delivery is 1 week....

From the front, it looks like the stands are wide apart. That means it can't be perched on a small table, I suppose? Is there an alternative stand they supply or should I get a wider TV stand (wall-mounting is not an option for me, unfortunately)? Maybe owners can confirm this.

thanks ordered.

Doesn't support network channels? i.e. motors tv? Awesome price regardless but wouldn't be much of a feature boost from my 32" 1080

No, it wouldn't be able to be put on a small table as they are at either ends of the TV
I wouldn't really recommend putting a 42" TV on a small table anyway, a large TV unit is probably the best way to go

Are you for real? Sony w8/9 are of the best TV's for the price. LG are terrible but samsung are very good I have an F6500. Sony are definitely top though

"Terrible"? I've had mine for 5 years and it's still working fine. Where do you get "terrible" from?

My sister and dad both had LG's absolute garbage. That's where I got it from. When you compare an LG to an equivalent samsung or sony there is no contest at all. I would sooner buy a tesco own brand than an LG. Always hear bad things about LG. But you have an LG and you're happy so good for you

You're speaking garbage. "no contest". Well evidently there is because people are buying this TV. I've had a Nexus 4, Nexus 5, they're made by LG and they too have fine LCD displays... And my sister has an LG and that's fine... And my brother has a plasma LG and that's fine...

Touchy subject? Sorry for having an opinion you crank lol

i've had many LG's without an issue. Where does your quote originate from ?

I got a Sony 32 (W708B) Inch for my son to watch the football this last world cup and I was extremely disappointed with it, the so called "Football" mode was a joke, the image looked dull, no improvement to motion, and the audio was as if it had a nasty cheap stereo wide with muffling reverb, so a totally useless setting we found. Worse than this was the horrifically slow UI, everything takes an age, Especially trying to select a channel from the inbuilt Freeview after you turn it on. it makes you curse every time "How did Sony quality control pass this as product worthy of their brand!". The answer is of course, they just don't give a dam as I found out recently for myself. I always used to swear by Sony in the CRT days, I will be avoiding them in the future.

No.

Panasonic plasma's and the few OLEDs available are top. (And some of the Pioneer Kuro's that are still out there if you want to be picky)

The higher end Sony's are good. But not the best.

As for this one .... "The LED Backlit display and Triple engine technology produces sharp and vibrant images regardless of what you're watching while its 100hz technology keeps motion smooth and judder free." .... not a chance. The OH has a higher spec model LG than this and I thought it was fine until I watched some of the world cup on it. Blur central compared to my plasma.

As long as you can live with that, it's a good price for what it is. Heat.

I believe the term used here is:
Obvious troll is obvious.

Still I will bite:

Korean companies like LG sell their own panels to Japanese companies and the other way around as well. The panel is the main thing that affects picture quality and companies like to share costs. I've never seen a huge difference between similar panels once settings and processing 'features' have been adjusted or turned off.

I'm not saying premium brands are a rip off but people want similar quality and performance at a significantly cheaper price ever since the recession started, which is what the value brands deliver. The writings on the wall when even Sony are struggling to remain profitable.

The warranty is the same, the panels are manufactured by and used by many different companies. The electronics inside are usually made by the same companies and dead pixels fail in small amounts on every TV. Also you may have a TV designed to last ten years that fails early because a supplier provided a lower quality component or part than specified.

You've got no idea what the failure rate of any brand is you've just got an opinion probably based on bad luck and/or bad settings.
That doesn't mean you're wrong but there's no evidence you're right.

Now children, lets play nicely. All the main makes have good and bad models. You can't go by make alone.
