4.5m Easy-Throw Emergency Escape Ladder reduced to £14.99 at Maplin

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

This has been posted numerous times before but has never been this cheap. Not available online but plenty of stock instore.
Previous cheapest was £19-99 so a further £5 off.

For use in an emergency, when you cannot exit your property via the doors

There is debate on whether these are useful but in the final reckoning, I would rather have the option available when I needed to take action to save my family and myself than not have a choice at all.

You can always dig a trench so you can use it!
Don't forget to attach the top end before you throw it!

Bought one similar to this and it is useless as walls are to thick to hook on.

None that close to me, but a few a little further away.

Quite fancy it for practising some rock climbing stuff.
(Balance etc, getting someone else to shake the ladder)

Bought one of these and it is useless as walls are to thick to hook on.

Please note - the Easy-Throw Escape Ladder requires a minimum window opening width of 30cm (12") and can be used in windows with a wall thickness of up to 30cm (12").
The window bottom overlaps the wall so wont hook on.

This - we have one too & it definitely won't fit..... If you are serious about using this, do check as its a major flaw to your fire escape plan !

Please do not rely on this for your means of escape. Fit smoke detectors that complies with the British Standard (BS EN 14604:2005). Make sure keys are available for doors and close all doors on to your escape route. Practice your escape plan with your family. Further advice can be provided from your local fire station. These devices are not accepted by any fire service/env health or building control.

If you feel you need the abovementioned device, there is something wrong with your existing fire precaution measures. Please seek further advice!

Perfect for all thieves!
This is a good deal, but if you're buying just to throw (as I did) I'd strongly recommend you getting a ball or maybe a small set of ladders instead. Even though this is an "easy throw" ladder, there is certainly no ease in throwing it, the only thing I threw was my back when I was playing with my son.

The page says it's on offer for this price until December 2013... I'm sure there will be stock back in soon.
I have expired this as seems now to be no stock anywhere, although site says on offer until December 2013. When I checked last night a few stores around had stock, using the 'Collect' feature. Just rechecked and all now gone.
I would also agree with the fire officer above. I would take detectors and good fire doors over these any day, but would also like the option of this if all else failed.
