Which one do you need for a combi boiler? Cheers
You need the one with the professional installation as this allows you to control your boiler for heating totally from your phone, water works exactly the same, for me anyway, water is hot when I want it hot as usually you set water temp on boiler and don’t need to touch it again, love mine, just set to 19 degrees myself and let boiler come on when it is gets to that temperature
I just bought “Hive Active Heating and Hot Water Thermostat without Professional Installation - Works with Amazon Alexa

I have the one with hot water as it was an install version last year. The hot water button just doesn't get used as we have a combi. You'll also find the unit on the wall hardly gets used as you tend to use the app. I'd also see if they are offers on install as bg install for you..

Don't go for a warehouse deal one. If it has been a customer return and they have already registered the hub(most likely have) it cannot then be registered in your name. Amazon will accept the return but you will have then missed out on the £95.99 deal as I did...... Got the Drayton Wiser kit last month on the Worsely deal though.

We have a traditional thermostat control (old school dial!) and a non-combi boiler.....is this a gimmick or have you really noticed a difference in terms of handiness / reduced bills etc please? Thanks so much

For me it's the convenience, sat on the sofa and turning heating on or off. Also when out knowing you can ping the heating on before you get home, and thinking "did I leave the heating on?" Well let me check my app......

It will work with pretty much any gas boiler, old or new. Love ours, just deciding if to buy a new one for the house we are moving to next month..
They had the additional thermostat option at £82 last night as well, but seems to have gone OOS

Shame as I do need it due to living in a house with 2 thermostats.

Don't quote me on this, but the heating + hot water thermostats should be usable just for heating, the hot water control would be optional. Worst case scenario, check with the installer, and it's via Amazon who will refund you if it can't work.

My house is also going to be on a combi. You may want to check if the boiler itself is compatible with Hive.

Combi boiler won't need a 'Hot Water' mode as it's controlled when taps are turned on.

Im a bit slow, expalin this a bit more please, as I ordered from warehouse last night, and getting a bit concerned I should have paid a bit more to get a brand new one now.
Hi, Need some suggestion. Mine a flat with communal heating (but here's a small proxy boiler inside my flat). There is one thermostat attached to the wall, which seems to control the heating. Any idea if Hive heating still going to work in my flat?

Depends on what your boiler does. I have a worcester bosch and it has an eco mode on the water which is basically a pre heat for 5L. Usually BG will try and install a single tuner just for heat but i insisted on twin tuner which actually switches eco mode on and off the hot water to enable pre heat and im then future proofed for when i next change my boiler to system and tank.

I'd just get the heating only one if you have a combi boiler. I bought the one that also does the hot water, but it blew my circuit board in the boiler. I don't know if all combi boilers are the same, but I found this on their website

Our receivers are supplied from mains (the permanent live and permanent neutral connections). The single channel receiver has “dry contacts” or “zero volt contacts”, that means it acts like a switch connecting the signal input terminal (shown as “Common” in our install guide) to the normally open (Heating on) or normally closed (heating off) output terminals. This single channel receiver can switch low voltage or mains voltage boiler control signals. The voltage to be switched connects to the Common terminal.

The two channel receiver is mains voltages only. It produces mains output voltages on its heating and hot water on/off terminals.

I got AO to price match the one with installation, so if you don’t have prime, AO will sort you out.

If the hub dont work, complain & say you cant sent it all back as its been professionally installed (at a cost to you) & ask for a new hub as it is the only part that user changeable.
My Warehouse deal turned up & the hub registered fine
Edited by: "bojangles" 16th Jul
Shame missed out. Any similar deals?
Has anyone managed to get one of these installed on their combi yet please? (Well apart from the one that blew the boiler).
