First time post so I hope I've done it right...

I've been looking for a decent brand big screen TV for less than £500. This TV has spent the last few months at around £520 so a drop to £449 with the Richer Sounds 5 year guarantee looks a good deal to me.

John Lewis also have it for £449. Few other shops also price match but without the 5yr warranty.

Has pretty much all the current tech inside, except for 3D. Is there anything better for the money?

A great tv at a great price but its no good without the magic remote, it is a B all ache to use any of the smart features without it. About £30 on ebay. You are not missing much without the 3D its good fun for about a week. WiFi is not much cop as its tooo slow, but if you wire it direct to your hub it fantastic.

I got a Toshiba 48" smart full HD tv with 200Hz for the same price

I got a Toshiba 48" full HD smart TV from Currys for the same price, which is 200Hz

andysfast is the slow wifi something unique to this TV, or just TV wifi in general?

And for the refresh rate, isn't it true that different manufacturers have different ways of measuring it; hence 200Hz on one brand may be the same as 100 or 50 on a different brand?

I think the wifi is just slow in general, unless anyone else would care to comment. I have a new BT homehub 8 feet away from the tv and the wifi is too slow to stream. I don't have a clue about the refresh rates buy there are loads of settings for different things like sport or movies. But don't buy it without the magic remote, try and get a deal that includes it.

Yes, companies do have their own versions of refresh rates based on their own integrated technology. My Toshiba 200Hz may be closer to 100 in real terms, but the picture is still fantastic. In my experience, low end smart TVs are just slow in general. That's not to say they all are, just ones I have messed with. If you want real smart functionality and don't mind another box.. You can't beat adding an android media player to your setup like the minix.

I can work my Dad's LN580v tv (model before this one) with my Samsung S4 phone with the LG app. He has the magic remove but I can do the same It's easier with the magic remote but the android app is a good second best. With his tv he uses the LG wifi dongle and no problems with that to his router but then you did say you have a home hub!!

Been looking at TVs for last week so many sites but some seem fake such as teletastic.co.uk/ so going to go look in currys later am might just buy this as my bugdet is just around £450.
I had a 50 inch LG plsma before its these are not the best if wanting to use the smart stuff on due to IR.
