Remember seeing an advert for these with some robot thing floating around. I laughed when the price came up

Exactly.

Even if you don't care about any of those, look at the state of that thing.

Perhaps it's aimed at the profoundly blind.

£250 excess? Do they mean deposit?

You have to insure it yourself??

2nd prize is to win one for 2 years.
3rd prize is to win 2 of them for 3 years apiece!

I guess you could use the £10 from the M&S voucher to buy the car after the test drive......and still have some cash to spare due to the depreciation.

Ssangyong makes some remarkable looking cars, for sure.

You could imagine that the takeup of this offer will be low, and so the odds of winning the prize might be quite good...

In a word, no.

Insurance for the extended test drive will be covered by Dayinsure. This will be arranged via the dealership either in advance or on the day of the test drive. Validation will take place while you wait and is subject to the following acceptance criteria:
•Age 21 or over
•Must have held a UK/EU license for a minimum of 12 months
•Must have not accumulated 8 penalty points on your driving licence in the last 3 years
•Must not have been disqualified in last 3 years
•Must not have been involved in more than 2 at fault accidents in last 3 years
•Must not have been convicted of a criminal offence in last 5 years
•Must not be a professional entertainer or sportsman
•Subject to an excess of £250 (Increased to £500 if the driver is 21-24yrs old)

Pick up locations? Can it be picked up at an airport and returned the next day at another?

If you've always dreamed of having a Ssangyong on the drive this is a great deal.

Ohhh, there is a dealer near by. Now... am I brave enough to use that driving licence I got, but have not yet used X)

Can't hurt to try it. Submitted details, see what happens! Cheers op.

My parents bought one when they were at silly prices. They're really pleased with it and my unjustified preconceptions were shattered when I drove it on a long trip. Shares a lot of switch gear with other manufacturers.
They deserve to be taken more seriously IMHO.

The build quality seems good, aesthetics could improve, but a 5 year unlimited miles warranty shows more confidence than most other manufacturers. I'd not say anything to put people off buying one.

Can't criticise the spec for the price, or the warranty.

That doesn't mean it's good value, that just means it's **** build quality! Why wouldn't you get a decent second hand car (a year or two old with less than 15,000 on the clock) for that price? A 5 year guarantee is nothing. A car shouldn't go wrong in that time anyway, so it's not something to be proud of.

I think these deserve a little more respect, many manufacturers who are considered mainstream now took loads of abuse, there often seems a sweet point where the cars get good and the price low - Skoda, Seat etc. and Ssanyong seem to be getting there. (this from a man with a new Dacia Stepway, which is a damn site better than an £8500 new car should be)

Might aswel give it a go for 2 days

It's also good that they changed their name. They used to be called Dong A Motor Co Ltd.

Thanks OP. Can't ask for more. 2 days free car hire, sure I am happy with that. Heat added

well apparently people have to pick up the car from luton if you live in london.

Called the central dealer in london who stated that if people want a hour test drive then they can deliver the car to them but if they want the 48 hour test drive then they need to pick up and drop the car back off at luton

WTF

Excess means the Excess amount you have to pay if there is an insurance claim (that is if the accident was your fault).

Nothing awful about them at all, incredibly well specced for the price, plenty of oomph in the engine, when did you drive one?

if you can find an airport with ANY car dealership within, you may get such a deal, however I'm not aware of any, so I doubt it.

Yeah, I hear that from colleagues &acquaintancies & friends with Audis that have spent more time in for warranty work than they have on the road, with range rovers constantly suffering flat battery syndrome, with VWs having christmas tree displays from faulty sensors, and so on. However, fairly safe to say the Ssang Yong will have sufficient build quality to last 48hrs test drive.

The end of last month. Felt "plasticky", cheap, no expense spent. Drove a friends ssyongyang and found that to be the same. Nothing better than a Daewoo 20 years ago. Who knows might turn out to be another Hyundai and in 15 years build up a big market share based on cheap motoring then improve. I doubt it.

I got phone call today from my local SsangYong dealer for free test drive. They requested my driving licence copy by email before i go to their dealership next week.

Did anyone get phone call?
