Unfortunately, at 5V, for fast charging (1A or above) and long leads (2m) the thickness/quality of the conductors really matters, due to the voltage drop over this distance.

Unless you know that the AWG of the charging cables is 22AWG or lower, it's best not to assume it's a good cable. Many cheap cables with only 26AWG conductors inside are being given a thicker outside insulator just to make them look like they must have thicker conductors inside, which they don't.

I bought not-cheap ones recently from a UK seller on eBay that were advertised as being 20AWG... unfortunately they weren't, they were 26AWG (standard USB thickness for 0.5A charging and data at 1m.) They struggled to charge at 0.3A at 2m! Returned, of course.

So anyway, yeah, buyer beware if you want generic long leads for fast charging!

So far the only cables I've found that are both affordable and reliably have thick conductors for fast charging are the Tronsmart brand, which seem to be generally available on eBay and Amazon for approximately £1.50 per lead in multipacks if you hunt around.

Might want to put the price in the title

The micro-USB end looks quite thick so I'd be careful about getting these if you have a phone case with a small charging cut-out.

Price £3.99 for 5x1.8m cables (1m and 30cm available for the same price too)

Rav power ones here are also good for the price

Might be worth while putting Micro USB Type B in the title and in Compatible Devices, it shouldn't say All Android phones, my current phone and my last phone released last year were Type C.
Not a bad price for 5 cables though.

I have these, although o.k you will struggle on many (not all)phone cases fitted.

I got these, they're brilliant. Really good build quality.

Self-advertising?

These are the ones I got a few weeks ago. At £9 it works out at £1.50 a cable, and 3 of them are 2m long.

amazon.co.uk/gp/…QM/

I was impressed enough (and annoyed enough with the eBay ones) to do a detailed review including pictures detailing the voltage drops etc for the non believers.

And for the record, no perks, I'm not associated with any of the manufacturers or sellers and paid full price for them.
