I use mine all the time, very handy. I think the space is for two years only if I remember correctly, after that time you can still access it but not upload. someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I can still access my FREE 50gb from signing in with an LG device after 2.5 years.

Only for devices with Dropbox pre-installed, and space is free for only two years:

Make sure Dropbox is pre-loadedDropbox must be "pre-loaded" on your brand … Make sure Dropbox is pre-loadedDropbox must be "pre-loaded" on your brand new phone or tablet, which means that the Dropbox app already came installed without the need to download it from the Google Play store. If the Dropbox app is pre-loaded on your device, you may qualify for 48 GB of bonus space for up to one year.Additionally, some devices that have the Dropbox app pre-loaded may also have the Dropbox "out-of-box experience," which means that the first time you turn on the device, you'll be asked to sign in to Dropbox or create a new account. If your device has the out-of-box experience, you may qualify for 48 GB of bonus space for up to two years. The first Dropbox account that signs in to the app on the device will get 48 GB of free space (assuming the other conditions are met). Each account is only able to claim this promotion once.

Right on every count. Invaluable for me too, the auto upload feature associated with the camera is very handy.

My next phone in around 18-36 months time will likely be a Samsung. I've had enough of Apple. This is good to know.

how big is the drop box OS?

Well had my device from last year and had cue from samsung android to upgrade. After the upgrade to Jellybean, got the drop box icon and request to register, which followed with mail to get 48GB ......

So what happens when you lose the 48GB of space, does everything get deleted?

Done. thanks for this!

No, they keep everything there but you can't upload anything new till you've gone under your limit

Did this yesterday

Currently in the second year of this, the shocks going to come when it finally runs out!

It seems good at first...

I got 50gb free (for 2 years) with my S3 but at some point in the next year I'll have to transfer everything to my Box account... Free 50gb for life with my Nexus 4.

Ball ache.

This ain't new stuff I got mine a year ago when I use dropbox on my GS3. Actually I need to reconsider using other alternatives such as skydrive and the google one as I don't really know if my files will be removed if exceeded 2Gbs after another year.

I have a similar setup and have been using 'ES file explorer' to move a few folders at a time when on home wifi. Or you could use your PC. It was much easier than I initially thought.

It's a very handy feature

Love this post, but not on Samsung.. Hate Samsung.. Neither heat dnor cold

Anyone got the .apk file for the pre-installed app?

Samsung are getting like apple with their pricing and pathetic so called new phone updates - other than the useless bloatware spot the difference between the s3 and s4. im just in the process of returning my hopeless s4

Samsung promotion (expires 5/8/2015)

I just got my galaxy note back from repair and it had jelly bean on it and I got the 50gb space. My wife's s2 jelly bean didn't have drop box installed though.

The problem now is that you need a pc to complete the additional steps for the storage and I'm stuck in hospital without a pc!

Hopefully I can do it when I get out.

Is there any way of getting this to work on other samsung devices which didn't have drop box installed on it?

bit crap, only free for 2 years then need to pay. rather have limited 50gb for life from box.

I bought my S3 sim free with no apps and i download the Dropbox app and still got 50GB free for 2 years so you could be lucky.8)

Got 25GB as part of getting my HTC One X....and having just got an S4, they've given me the 48GB on top....so 73GB of space for me on Dropbox! Happy days.
