I had a PRC Direct price matched with JL using code. Worth a try.

They were matching a £75 off code from Hughes the other day. Although if the code expires at midnight, it'll probably be invalid by the time they check.
can't add the code
Richer sounds will price match with code... better customer service and 6 years warranty
I can't device, should I go for 49 or 55 inch?

Code TV100 definitely working for me. The Currys discount code box is a little fiddly, try adding a space after the code and ten tabbing to "Add".

All the deals say "Hurry ends Tuesday", so I think its a good bet it will work all of tomorrow, rather than expire at 00:00

Are these details from the 55inch?
Is this tv really worth it? I've been researching and the 70 and 80 series are hundreds cheaper

Are these details from the 55inch?

The 55" has the same specs if a little better in terms of contrast/colour

Look at this in terms of being something like an audi rs4 and those a polo. That's the difference

Agreed but you get the 5 year guarantee with Sony direct.

The 8004 is identical to the 9005 except the 8004 is edge lit with no local dimming, the 9005 is direct lit with local dimming
Just to point out - no Dolby Vision support at the moment. Good TV tho. One of the best of 2017. If I was to buy a TV it would be this one due to the screen burn issues of OLEDs which are not covered under any warranty.

8004 is an 8Bit+FRC panel whislt the 9005 is a 10bit Panel no?
This is a good tool when deciding what TV is best for your needs

I removed HDR gaming and focused on 49" sets which gave me a rating of 8.4 for the 9005 (£849) and 7.7 for the 8004 (£629)?

This set has a much better image processor found in the top Sony TV's..

Is it worth it is subjective...

If you want the best experience in HDR and motion then yes, if its just a display for normal TV and you're not fussed with the subtle (and not so subtle) improvements over lesser models then no.

So they’re all lots of trouble, but this one costs a lot more to fix?

the specs for the 9005 are incorrect on RS. The 9005 is a 10bit panel.

Getting a telly is like keeping up with the Jones'.

I had held off buying one because of the different times and what not, in the end I plonked for a Samsung 6220 49'. It doesn't have full HDR, nbut the picture is bright and it cost me less than £500 at Argos.

If you are looking for a TV, get one to match your budget, all this talk of full HDR compatibility means spening near £1k on a set when its likely the standard will further devolve.

I ignored the HDR aspect of the set and get a brilliant picture for an SDR 4K telly.

Sorry but thats wrong.

49xe80 is a 8 bit + FRC, IPS panel
49XE90 is a 10 bit, VA panel
Great spot op, finally used my currys gift card : )

Nope.
XE9005 is full LED array - XE8004 is Bottom Edge LED
XE9005 is 120Hz - XE8004 is 50Hz
And much more.
XE90 range is vastly greater hence the higher price.

I got the Sony KD 49XE8004 from Richer Sounds before Christmas for £600

after following some internet guide settings and youtube videos for dealing with xbox one x setups, this TV is fab

just added Kodi and some add-ons, makes this an all inclusive system for what we need

Brilliant quality and works well with Alexa and Harmony Remote
Edited by: "phoenix72" 1st Jan
I too got the 8004 from Richer sounds but paid £557. I was looking at the 9005 but couldn't justify the price difference
I have one of these and have had no end of issues with it. Think I'm definitely in a minority amongst owners of them though, but I personally dont recommend them at all.

Are Sony still doing the 5yr warranty though?
Cheers op. I may get this. As I was on the sony outlet site they had one for 749 refurbished grade A but I snoozed and losed. the extra is worth it for a new TV and guarantee
Android OS on the Sony’s is really bad. Very slow and buggy on my 2016.
I've owned this TV for just over a month and it's brilliant. I use it for PC as well and it does 120hz no problem. Only hdmi ports 2 & 3 do full 4K 60hz HDR, so be aware. For this price i would definitely bite

I get 8% off at Currys through work via vouchers. I went to John Lewis and richer sounds when I bought my 55" ks7000 and none would take vouchers into consideration so I went with Currys. It's crazy imo to turn away custom. All be it at an 8% off discounted price
