Is it not cheaper to buy a used one from eBay?

Great price and fantastic phone by all accounts. Tried the S10e, S10 and S10+ for a while and they were all great devices.

I ordered a Pristine S10+ 512Gb ceramic from 4gadgets and it was definitely Pristine.

Any users of Note 9 listening i'm in a dilemma. Got a 512G storage/8G ram Note 9 in blue excellent condition for £322 from 4 gadgets. I bought it to replace my year old Samsung A70. Now the A70 is all round great for my use, lovely large oled screen, performance is great, storage great, battery great. Fingerprint reader is average BUT the camera is really average. I thought moving to the Note 9 would be a no brainer even though it's older.....but the performance is slower than the A70 (opening apps is noticeably lagging behind my A70), the screen is smaller and even in the high Res mode I can't tell the difference in screen quality. And the camera: I was expecting to be blown away in the difference as the A70 is so average but I was not, the note is definitely better, brighter colours and more definition when you look closely - but not the jump I was expecting. Now the question - do I return the Note 9 and wait for something like the pixel 4a or perhaps spend a bit more on one of the many new Xiaomi/Poco/Vivo phones that are flodding the market with supposedly great cameras or will the Note 9 prove to be a better long termer due to its high end components and survive the test of time?? I haven't really tested out the S pen features, Samsung Dex, taken advantage of the storage etc

Battery: After a few charges the battery in my 512GB shows 87% in AccuBattery. Not too shabby. It increased slightly from 85% - initial charge. OS / Updates: It came with a security update from Oct 2019, didn't have UI 2 installed.

Accubattery is one to use. It uses their own algorithm though so not gospel. Do believe there are short codes for some Android phones to find battery health.

I read somewhere there was a way to find out when the phone was manufactured to get a rough idea of how much use it got. Anyone know the software I mean?

I'm using the Mi Note 10 Lite, it has a 5260Mah battery. Getting me 2 full days easily with heavy use. Charges back up to full in an hour too. Can't grumble for £315.

I guess my expectation is too much. I really wanted a phone to last at least morning till night without a charge in between.

Mate 20 Pro has quite a bit smaller screen and no Stylus....The larger screen and S-Pen are the two main selling points of the Note 10 Plus

worth noting that the 5G is single sim only though....

Not happy with these guys at all. Arrived today and it's the 5G version, not what I ordered! They'll be "happy to process a refund" but I have to drop it off at the post office, extra faffing around for their mistake! P.S I know you set not to quote you but the only freebie I got was a ball point pen XD

Pristine just describes the condition of the phone, it would come with nothing else apart from the phone, I'd imagine they'll send you other stuff - though don't quite me on that

I mean they didn't tell me until I contacted them. Previous day someone else told me something different. I've worked in customer service and do get wires get crossed especially in this current climate. Don't get how I'm being upgraded to "Pristine" grade when I paid for "Pristine" anyway though

At least they had the decency to tell you. I'd imagine you'll get a load of accessories with your phone now, something you don't usually get, that's what they normally do.

Joke of a company. Ordered on a Pristine grade on Friday, remained on pending until today when I contacted them. Apparently there was a fault on the phone so they're sending out one in a better "upgraded" condition... Despite me ordering it in Pristine condition in the first place! What upgrade? £500+ for 7 day delivery

Cool, no problem mate

They sent replacement phone in the end and sent a charger, earphones and spare USB cable which was v.good of them. The replacement has couple of small scratches on the top edge but would never notice them. The battery is 91%, the first one I received was 97% so that's a bit annoying but overall happy with the phone thanks @MrSwitch

The S10 has more RAM, the 4GB on the Pixels makes them struggle/lag a bit I find.

Accubattery, install it, wait a few days until it's monitored the charge/discharge and you'll get a decent representation of the battery quality and capacity. Sadly unless there's a built in battery monitor you need to be rooted to get the info and being rooted isn't want you want really.

The camera hardware isn't better, it's the software. If you know what you're doing with the Samsung you can get photos as good, Samsung over saturate their images, the HDR is a beggar for it.

Depends on your needs/requirements. Most of the time, the Note 10 is viewed as the S10+ but with a pen (the same can be approximately said about the Note 8 and the Note 9 with the S8+ and S9+ respectively). The pen is important to some for writing purposes and also for drawing if you're that type of person. In this case, it's worth pointing out the S10+ has a headphone jack, something the Note 10 series does not. The S10+ may very well be the last of its kind with a headphone jack so if you got some wired earbuds/headphones that you treasure then this is it to buy a phone with one that should last you 2 or 3 years before you think of a solution.

Thanks really appreciate the honest feedback. So you think this is worth going for?

I upgraded from a S10 Plus to a Note 10 Plus, here's the obvious differences I noticed; +Note 10 Plus looks phenomenal, as good as the S10 Plus looks, the Note 10 is just the top dog here +Battery life is amazing +As fast as you can get for an Android +Although only slightly bigger, it has thinner edges, looks stunning when playing movies +Selfie hole punch very nicely in the centre and rarely in the way +Ultra fast charging, approx 1h15m for a full charge from x% - Screen recording requires confirmation unlike the S10 Plus - Speakers are worse, as in less clear than S10 Plus - The power button is on the same side as the volume keys, this doesn't help when playing certain games - Rear Camera placement not in ideal position, (left handed users, etc) - Rear Camera is practically exactly the same as the S10 Plus - Selfie Camera inferior, i.e on the S10 Plus you can adjust nose thickness, on Note 10 Plus you cannot. So now, for practically double the price I do not recommend the Note 10 Plus to anyone, infact I will likely never pay this much for a phone again, S10 Plus is the best android right now for it's price.

No pristine when I ordered on Friday night so bought 'excellent'. Arrived Tuesday. It has a couple of scratches on the top corners of the phone which will be hidden when the case arrives. Huawei and Xiaomi are your best bets now if you want an ir blaster, most of their phones still have one. It's a shame Samsung stopped including it - it's probably the single most useful feature on my p20 pro since my TV and blue-ray remotes vanished years ago. I guess they're becoming obsolete now that most people have smart TVs and whatnot.

Thank you! Will keep an eye out for deals for those 2 :)

Sony Xperia 5 would be my top compact choice. Failing that then the 3A XL is a good shout, but a mid range chipset may out you off.

Hey @MrSwitch - if you were going for a Samsung S10e-esque phone (Smaller than most new ones, at a reasonable price c.£300), what are the equivalents in terms of the Xiami's/ Huawei's/ Realme's/Oppo's? I like the idea of the s10e, I've had my samsung s7 since 2016 and it's lasted well but the battery is fading out now. Not sure what I should go for, i'm not committed to the brand other than I want an android! I'm holding out for the stonker of a deal to come up, but not sure if it will in current times!

you need to click 3 times on the personal usage bit as it is a hidded feature - read the reviews on the play store. bit odd! Great phone by the way.

I was luck to get the 6S a week or so ago for £380 with LTE. It's a fab tablet, very impressed...

You would have thought that they would have learned from the issue Apple had, where thay ended up giving away bumbers, so you did not short out the ariel. Not enough testing.

I believe there is a known issue with the WiFi on these models - something to do with how you hold the device. Samsungs answer, apparently, is you are holding it wrong! https://www.sammobile.com/2019/05/01/galaxy-tab-s5e-wi-fi-issue/amp/

Hi all, is this the 6gb or the 8gb ram model? Thanks

Screen is significantly better on the Note 10 (and other Samsungs). The P30 Pro has a really odd colour gamut, red in particular looks brown, side by side with my A70 it looks subpar. If I hadn't got it on a cheap 3 contract I'd be thinking about sending it back just due to the screen, no amount of fiddling with the colour temp fixes it. I'm not massively keen on the scrolling too, although this is getting fixed hopefully in the 10.1 update later this month. The NM card issue is irritating too, over twice the price of a microSD. Battery management is too aggressive like already mentioned. EMUI isn't terrible, it's not on a par with OneUI but getting there looking at how it's progressed. Not being able to schedule blue light reduction from sunrise to sunset, just to fixed times is a bit annoying.

I thought you were being sarcastic there... removing a 3.5mm jack creates minimal space inside a device, if they said do you want 100mAh bigger battery or a 3.5mm jack I know what I'd choose, not to mention that wireless headsets will drain a device more than wired. They've done it for money - if you need confirmation of that, just look at all the tablets without 3.5mm jacks now, the same argument can't be applied there. Huawei got banned by the SD Association in May 2019 (thanks to Trump) and it's first NM phones (Mate 20) came out in October 2018 - this has been on the cards for a while. The logic was that it is smaller so uses less space in the phone, it's marginal and people would have likely sacrificed a bit of space, size or batter life for something convenient like a memory card format that everyone uses.

Just a note on 2 points you've made... Don't forget that removing the 3.5mm port makes available very valuable space inside a device that is crammed with a lot tech. Also if I'm not mistaken Huawei were not allowed to use the micro SD format so were forced to create a proprietary format, rather than it be for monetary reasons. Again my previous point about other manufacturers doing the same doesn't ring more true than Apple who practically invented the word "proprietary" in phone terms. I'm just playing devils advocate here. I still use a S7 Edge and have been undecided about which phone to buy for a while now (mainly because I missed the £256 refresh too ;( )
