4GB Data, Unlimited Text, Unlimited Voice

Calls and textsUnlimited UK standard calls and textsCall your friends and family as much as you want. No catch.

Cost£10Prepaid at the start of each billing month

Length1 monthPlan lasts until the same date of the next month

Get a discount on unused data
  • £5 = the base cost of any plan (unlimited standard calls, texts and running the network). The rest is for simply for data.
  • At the end of each month, we take the data you haven’t used and discount your next plan - at a rate of £1.25 per GB.
  • So for 3GB of unused data, you’ll get £3.75 off your next month. We even calculate using remaining MBs, not GBs.

Uses THREE network.

Adding data or creditIf you run out of data it’s £1.25 per GB - the same as it costs in your plan. To call an 084 or 087 number you can add credit in £5 increments. Add-ons never expire.

You can tether and hot-spot all of your data with no speed restrictions

You can’t call abroad or premium numbers - yet. We’re still getting international and premium calling ready. In the meantime, apps like Whatsapp are much more cost effective - only use data in your plan or over Wi-Fi.

Roaming’s not readyWe haven’t been able to enable roaming in time for our launch. We’re a UK-only network at the moment, but we’re working on it.

When I was on Three and my service would go bad, I'd call em up and ask for it to be repaired, then ask for credit for loss of service. Turned out I only paid £10 for 12 months on Three LOL

I was tempted to jump from Three to smarty (100% owned by 3) as it would work out cheaper than my current option - however, they don't do Direct Debit payments, I don't trust recurring bank card payments, and don't want to have to remember to pay monthly.

When was this
I don`t think roaming is included - puts me off almost as much as the dire coverage I receive on the Three network
This is the only fully capped deal on the market which is great

I recently joined ID Mobile but it didn't last long because I couldn't get 4G calling working on my iPhone X. WiFi calling was fine but 4G calling just wouldn't work. It's odd because the underlying network (Three) supports both on the iPhone X and when I swapped to a Three SIM 4G calling worked just fine.

I think there’s a setting under Mobile Data to enable 4G for just data, or voice and data.

Yes I know. Didn't work with ID though. Their web site doesn't actually list 4G calling as supported on the iPhone X, only WiFi calling.

Ah OK. That's odd though, you'd think as they support it on other iPhone models this would have been automatic - I mean, there isn't that much difference software wise.
This is just their standard price??
The catch is that you have to pay monthly. That is not true pay as you go. Pay as you go means paying as you go, topping up only when you need to.

Yes, but it's still a decent price. And an awful lot of people have never heard of Smarty - I only came across it through, iirc, uSwitch.

No roaming. It's an absolute pain travelling abroad for work. If you don't plan to travel much then this plan is a no-brainer.
And they refund £1.25 for every 1gb of unused data.

Surely EU roaming is included by law?!

I went to Japan, Gibraltar, Spain and Cyprus and had nothing each time! I'm sure they're saving money on fees by not including roaming and passing on savings with generous data/call packages.

Yeah, I questioned them over what would happen if you didn't pay one month. They bar you from receiving incoming calls. If I recall correctly you could do that for 6 months before you would lose your number. Unfortunately that was a break breaker for me, as a very low user.

No true GiffGaff is capped too
Contemplating moving from GiffGaff to Smarty - still capped and I see GiffGaff are now offering unlimited on their plans, however the retrospective rebate for data is an excellent concept, will prevent the times I have to early purchase a goody bag! It makes sense to go all in for 8gb and just get the rebate. So tempted to switch....
Don't forget you get one month free if you use a referral link. Referrals aren't allowed on here, but plenty on mse. Just google "mse smarty referral", about the 4th link.
Tried to order this on Sunday but they couldn’t take money from my bank so could not complete the order for a Sim! Rang bank and they said it was a merchant error... seems like too much effort!
Any idea what happens to unused data discount if you switch to another provider - do they still give it to you as you have paid upfront?

Edit : use all the data in the last month , no rebate on it, so careful if you’re on the large sim and don’t use it much .

No calls whilst abroad YIPPEE!

That's what holidays used to be all about. Ppl think they are so important and need to be contactable at all times.

If your away on business and have smarty youre in the wrong business- trying to save £1.25 a gig!?!

I have two phones. One is a pay as you go, for those that don't matter. It stays on silent, sits in my window. I check it once a day.

My other phone is as proper phone.

Exactly, when I go on holiday phone goes off. If and when I was in a Wi-Fi hotspot area, then I would log on for a few moments to reply to WhatsApp and fb messages.
I have had people go on holiday and message me their entire stay, sod that
